You can have a glimpse of them here: North-Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation - N W K R T C

The pics are not very clear, but can just guide you around.

For the layout: It is in a 2X1 layout. There are single berths on the left side of the coach, and doubles on the right. All are berths, and there are no "semi-sleeper" seats like in private coaches. Total SC is around 30 (5 rows or 6 berths each - 1+2 Lower and 1+2 Upper).

Is this what you saw?

That's the new ACE 1 tonner, designated somewhat curiously.
Tata CVs are designated on the basis of their gross vehicle weight but this is an exception to the rule. ACE 1 tonner has a payload of 1 tonne, GVW being about 2 tonnes. It uses the Indica diesel engine.

Looks lovely!

BTW, Piaggio already has this Ape 1.3 tonner. Does that mean payload or gross?

Meanwhile the Ape Truk has been successful too. Seen many. Doesn't look bad (like the 4 wheeled Minidor unfortunately does) and advertising claims it has the lowest running costs (don't know in what terms tho').

I came by this Isuzu bus which was being used by KSRTC on mys-blr route. Comments on the bus are this.
Interiors:*****
Sitting posn and leg space:****
Engine sounds and speed was decent 3*
Look of the bus: Nthing great
Price:Very expensive

Drawbacks: Bodyroll exists and also there is no rod which can be held on to while walking down the aisle of this bus.

I believe this was being tested but i have no idea on the same
I was charged 225 for the journey

How is the vibration inside? What is your comparative rating for Volvo.

The vibration on the inside is better than the volvo. The interiors are way better than it.
Rating wise I would rate this on 4 for a 3 with volvo.
The interiors was so much like a plane.

So, can we expect this to be a real good competitor for the Volvo? From your comments, it seem like the bus is damn good. Could you give us a write up on the speed, and the ride quality (a bit in detail)?

There is no rod in Volvo too! I feel that would have been a good addition...

There was no news in any news papers about one such bus being tested! Good move from KSRTC. Could you give out the approximate timings you traveled in the bus? I'll try tracking out the bus for some pics

It had a 'soft launch' in Jan this year (I am told).

Yes exactly. this looks much better than the white one I saw. look soo neat. I would love to own a van like omni designed on this platform. I think tata may be up to it already.

Oops! I should've been a bit more clearer... I mean 'induction' to the KSRTC fleet, and not the launch of the bus. I remember reading an earlier post in the same topic about these buses.

I am really happy to read that these buses are really good...

No worries. I am not sure about KSRTC's induction.

Has anyone tried the Marco Polos in Bangalore?

I've been trying hardly for that during the past two weeks... but couldn't even get a glimpse of the bus! The staff at the bus station too appeared too ignorant about the existence of such a service!

Of course, BMTC is operating two really long routes using just two buses! So, the frequency would be too bad on them! However, BMTC has now introduced Volvos on the KBS-Hosakote route (this is one of the route where Marcopolos were introduced).

The reviews about this bus is very positive, from Mumbai - where one of these is being tried. I am keeping my efforts on to get a ride on this very elusive bus!
