Thanks again for the recommendation. Using it for about a month for work and occassionally PS4 and really like it. Sound output isn't too bad too!

Should I proceed or buy a brand new but then height adjustable new ones are on pricier side.
Full HD on ~22 inches is a bit hard on the eyes for most people so I'm assuming this is something you're aware of and okay with.

Re: Computer monitor recommendations?

I am in need of a 24 inch monitor as a secondary display to my laptop- to be primarily used for the purpose of web browsing and watching videos. A display that offers crisp text reading without straining too much on the eyes is preferred. Budget 13k max.

I stumbled upon Dell S2421H. Reviews are positive, only grouse is the availability. Local Dell store tells me it will cost 13k approximately whenever they'll receive, which is just what my budget for the external monitor is. The chap says it is expected to come within a week.

Meanwhile I stumbled upon Samsung LF24T350FHWXXL which was available at 8.3K bucks by Appario Retail (Amazon) and I have ordered it just a while back as I thought 8.3K for a 24 inch FHD IPS panel monitor is too good to resist?

Reviews are a mixed bag for Samsung and it lacks the speakers as well as the audio port which to be frank my laptop can cover up.
Another advantage for Dell is its height adjustment as well as the vertical tilt. Although my table is at a normal height so I think Samsung one will not be an issue. Also vertical tilt is not really needed in my line of work.

But I am still confused- Should I go with the Dell or keep this Samsung one.
I prefer quality and longevity and I have not seen both of these displays with my eyes. So kindly advice which one will be better on these two aspects.

Thanks.

I think it'll be best to decide after your receive the Samsung. Since you're looking at picking up the Dell from a store, visit before the return window is up and check it out in-person.

Based on what you've shared about your requirements, its unlikely that you won't be happy with the Samsung.

Hey, your advice worked! Received the Samsung monitor today and looks like I will be keeping it. Although too early to say but happy with its performance so far.

It is back in stock with Appario @17.5k. It's a nice buy even at that price.

Sorry for the late update.
I picked up the Philips 241V8 & have found the performance satisfactory for my kind of usage i.e. routine office work. It has tremendously reduced my eye strain with its reader mode were the appearance is on the warmer side.

Way too expensive for a 75Hz display. For same or less, you can get a better 144 Hz panel.

If you need an all-in-one USB C QHD monitor with a USB hub and built-in speakers, nothing else comes close.

My ACER EB321HQU got delivered yesterday.

Got it through the Sales and the final price after 10% SBI card discount was 14499/-. Another 449/- was spent on AmazonBasics 6.5-Feet DVI to DVI Cable.. My desktop is an eight year old Dell XPS with GT 530. Hence HDMI is limited to 1080p max. With DVI-D it delivers at native 1440p and can be maxed out at 2880 x 1620

The results are awesome.

Thank you very much for the recommendation

Congrats!

Every work setup deserves a big screen. The difference in productivity is huge. I should thank the Corona for this "discovery".

Am adding a webcam on top so I don't have to open the laptop lid ever.

Yes I am using an old Quantum 480p camera which was on top of my existing 24" Dell LED. For a 1080p monitor it was just fine. I was looking for some good 720p cams and landed upon Logitech C270 HD Webcam. Over to the next sales.

Re: Computer monitor recommendations?

Hi,

Part-1: Monitor

I was struggling with using the laptop display mid of last year. Reasons:

- Prefer a monitor with height, swivel, tilt, wide angle of display, better resolution, high refresh rate for long working hours.

I ended up purchasing Dell U2415 (24", 75 Hz refresh, all adjustments mentioned above). Is very sharp and has good real estate compared to its size (extremely thin 1mm bezel on top, left and right edges and about a cm at the bottom). Excellent monitor. I ended up ordering a 2nd one soon after.

It does have its share of issues (did not/ does not impact me - so fine):
1. Works with an HDMI cable. The pack does not come with the cable, so have to buy it separately.
2. Web reviews show that the on/off soft touch switch is delicate and conks off after certain use. I have ended up not using it at all. I keep it in on position and turn off the extension cord power. Also, when you shut the laptop, it goes into a sleep mode anyways.
3. Does not have a camera, so end up opening the laptop lid for video calls. A camera would have been awesome, but that is ok.

Overall very happy as I can stand and take calls pacing up and down and turn the monitor to suit requirements.

Part-2:
Bluetooth enabled headset. For extreme clarity, following are good:
- Active Noise cancellation (ANC) as opposed to passive noise cancellation.
- An external mike as opposed to an in-built or multiple mikes. Many of the head-phones are intended for listening to music with an occasional call on the phone. But if the use case is work from home, one needs a dedicated mike and an option to go mute just by flicking the mike up with the arm as opposed to stopping typing or removing focus from the screen. Much more convenient than move the mouse and click on 'mute'.

Hope this helps.

thanks,
subbarp
