I do NOT need sleep stats, music, 'contact less' payment or any other features.

Please advise!
Could recommend the Huawei GT. This is a fitness tracker in the clothing of a smart watch (and it looks really smart). Costs around 10K on Amazon.

Counts steps accurately, has GPS feature (though I have personally never used), has a continuous heart rate monitoring and is supposedly the best when it comes to sleep tracking. All this with around a 10-day battery life (with GPS off and continuous heart rate monitoring on).

I have compared the heart rate as detected by this vis-a-vis the iWatch and both are almost identical, leading me to believe that the data captured is accurate.

3 big cons though - that you should know upfront.

1. Your fitness is locked to your phone. You switch phones and you lose your fitness history, and you start afresh.

2. No integration with Strava or any other fitness app.

3. Limited custom watch faces. They have recently added support for custom watch faces but it needs you to install the beta version of the mobile app and set your location as China for it to work. Overall, while the current software is decent, the lack of responsive from the company is quite irritating. That said the app is fully functional and no major issues there.

My experience of owning this for the last few months.

I do NOT require pay features.

I prefer a ultra light watch with GPS, Step Count and RHR.

This would be a purchase made in US.

Did not know these watches had pay feature. My suggestion was purely from fitness tracking in mind.

My take: Look at Vivoactive 3/4 series. Very light, does manage both smart watch related aspects and fitness aspects well. I have the Vivoactive-3 but 4 has been announced. But for your need even V-3 would suffice and now might retailing at good prices on Amazon.

+1

I also have the vivoactive 3 series which I bought in May and it has been serving me well. Battery also comfortably lasts for 4-5 days if we dont use the GPS. I got it for around 17000 in Singapore. Worth a buy at that price in India its around 25000 on Amazon. Give it a look...

Re: The Fitness Band/Smartwatch Thread

Any recommendations for a bare basic fitness band (NOT smartwatch or anything with a watch attached). Basically, I used to really like the aesthetic of the first gen Fitbit Flex, which was a simple band, inconspicuous on the wrist and with no glaring display, easily worn even under formal shirts at work.

My most important criteria (apart from the actual fitness data tracking and reliability) is comfort and minimalist aesthetic on the wrist. I always wear a proper watch on my wrist, and am not looking for a smartwatch at all- just something slim and light which will pair with phone and provide data, while being an accurate tracker of fitness/activity.

Any suggestions?

Re: The Fitness Band/Smartwatch Thread

My Portronics Yogg doesnt seem to capture the sleep correctly. I have set the sleep time for 11 - 7, but I have to switch it to sleep mode manually. It does a daily switch on at about 2-2.30 am. Many a time it captures sleep only after 3 am ..

Auto-sleep doesnt seem to work right.

Is this a problem with settings or the model ?

Note- not using it during day. Only trying to check my sleep patterns.

Re: The Fitness Band/Smartwatch Thread

Does the Mi band 3 start charging only if the battery level drops below a certain level?
Recently the charger had to be replaced and the watch was almost fully charged earlier and when I plugged it in, it did not show any charging sign. I tried with a different charger and it was the same.

Since it takes few weeks for the charge to go low and I need to return the charger if it isn't working with in the return window, it would be great if anyone using this, could confirm on this.

Re: The Fitness Band/Smartwatch Thread

Recommendations for a <3K fitness band for a teenager with an Android phone. Primary task is to count steps and track 24x7 heartbeat. Basic alerts from Android a plus.

I was considering the new MiBand 4. Any thoughts please?

Any thoughts on https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...M6RX0PH0&psc=1

Requirements are for a basic smart watch with GPS and 24 hour heart rate monitoring.

My friend who uses the same model says no. The battery can be charged at any level.

Regards.

Thanks for checking.

I will check once again today as it has been a week since I checked last and the battery would have dropped.

Sometimes the Mi Band 3 capsule charging points do not make proper contact with the charger pins.

1. Clean the charging points with alcohol based solution
2. Check the spring action of charger pins

The first point did the trick.
Thanks for the tip.
