this is a nice read -- some things already known and discussed here -- but for a novice like me -- this is handy info

If I tilt downward, I might get the window reflection, so I need to check while installing it. Cant we do that tilting ourself after installation too ? quote]
Yes, the wall mount is user-tiltable. You can adjust it so as to minimize reflections. I had it tilted downwards because it was more comfortable for viewing, reduction in reflections was a bonus.
Regarding height, center of screen should be ideally at 5-10 deg below eye level, give or take a few inches. However, the best is whatever you feel comfortable with. And ofcourse, too low a height could be an invitation to accidents.

Hi, don't bother with the 32inch LG Plasma. I checked it out about 2 weeks ago at E zone in Chennai. Its got only a 852 x 480 resolution and the picture quality was below average.

Get a good Panny LCD 32 inch for 29K.

Yup the LG 32-inch plasma is the smallest plasma made by any manufacturer till date. And it is a proper SD plasma - 852x480 resolution. Perfect for watching normal TV, DTH and DVDs. SD plasmas were very popular and great value for money till probably 1 or 1.5 yrs ago when HD-ready plasmas started becoming cheaper.

Sigh ... wish the price-size ratio could be maintained on a 50-inch plasma - I would gladly buy one for less than 60k that way !!

In any case it's only a matter of time before this price-size ratio reflects in the 42 inch plasma category and then on even bigger sizes.

The 42 inch LG PG61 frameless model was nice picture quality wise, but I have no idea on the 32 inch one. Like Panasonic generally says, upto 40 inch, it is LCD and above that, plasma rules.

Hi kpbhatt

Yes the 42 inch PG61 model in LG is a very good one. Definitely worth a look. Excellent sleek design, classy looks and very good features. The Panasonic 42PV80 is probably 10% better in terms of picture quality.

So my Pana Plasma PV8 is finding its partner tomorow, that is a HT from the same brand SCPT 565, 1000 watts RMS, 4 tower and a centre speaker. Details with picture on the home theatre thread. Its again from Devi, but no surprising discounts like plasmas, reason being Pana HTs in very low demand. I will complete my wall with a new cabinet, plasma mounted on the wall, asian paints ragging (theme painting like combing, brushing, sponging) done as the final touch, all estimated to finish by wednesday 26th.

Shajufx

Wow. What you have planned for your wall sounds really good. Please do upload the photos once it is all done with your plasma and the home theatre system setup. We would love to see how everything gels together.

Warm regards,
Venkat

I myself put too much of hopes on the final look, really pray it comes out well ! Having spent close to a lakh, I will look like an idiot if it doesnt gel well with the other walls and the decor of the room. If something goes wrong with the paint shade, my only option will be to wait till the next complete painting day (may be after 2 years). Good or bad, I will defenitely put the photos here, hoping someone will not throw that post to the 'worst modification' thread

I got a quote of 24k from Devi, but unfortunately the order remains cancelled as of now, just because panasonic itself has no stock of it anywhere in Bangalore. This model is supposed to be one of the latest launches in India. I have somehow made up my mind not to go for wall mounted speakers, therefore prefering only tower types, considering all the simlar ranges right now. Tough to decide and I really feel hesitant to go for Sony as the Plasma is of Pana with viera link. But given no other choice, I have to decide on Sony itself. Being a happy Sony customer for last 6 years, I feel its just ok. The only model that meets my requirement in Sony is DZ777, but it reaches nowhere near the aesthetics of Pana PT565.

Trust me and see a Demo of Philips HTS 4750 before you decide. I was also a happy sony fan, but the sound clarity of this system blew me away and active subs were very good for the price.
