Is it 29" CRT, on which it shows no pixellation? If yes, then source should be definitely fine. I think on small sized CRTs it may not be that visible.
It could be bad upscaling, as well. In that case PV8 should get it's due credit!

Yes go for 550 the difference is there in contrast ratio ( different panel ) and features.

But would this difference be noticable in regular DTH viewing? There wouldn't be any DVD viewing on his TV let alone blu-ray,etc.

Ah well, the 50.5 price was without the DVD player. And you'd probably be better off by not taking that 'pebble' DVD player. Apparently feedback is not good on it. If you do need a DVDp better buy a 3-3.5K Philips separately.

I compared the 32" 530 / 550 side by side, same feed, before settling on the 530. Did not observe any difference to warrant the extra 5K.

Extended warranty? I think I asked and got a negative response.

I save only 1000rs if i opt out of the DVD, might as well take it in that case.It looks pretty cool tho.
What is the difference between this player and regular DVD players?

How much did you get the 32'' 530 for?

I got 2K off for a lower priced player with the 530.

Not sure of the differences, but try google. Heard there are bad reports about it.

I was quoted 36k + a non-upscaling nondescript 4.5K MRP DVD player.
I paid 33k. Apparently 2k reduction for the player and 1k from the MRP.

Change in plan ! My mother decide she wants a smaller TV

The qoutes I have got are: Samsung 32B450=32.5k | 32B530=36.5k Both come with free dvd player

Is there a noticable difference in regular DTH viewing between the two models?

Another option is Panasonic X9=29.5k

Hi..I am picking a LG 42" F 20 series from Reliance Digital - Its costing me 48k and I am also adding a Philips Home theater - costing me another 6k. Downpayment of 23700 done and EMI's for 14 months is 2230.

I have a few questions though:

Is anyone using a LG 42" F20 series if so, what are the pros and cons - (I know its too late but still )

Also let me know how do i figure out if they are delivering me a new piece and not one of the demo pieces from the showroom.

For the guys who are planning to go for the same model - 42" LG F20 series, I suggest you try Girias in Sadashivanagar - while on my way back home i checked with them and they offered me the same for 45k. with EMI options!

Not that I noticed. It was fairly similar. And IMO, for majorly DTH viewing it's better to go for a 32". The pixellations etc will be less visible at say a 8ft distance than a 40" TV.

One difference that I did feel was there - the angle of viewing was better in the 530. Picture did not fade away as much as compared to the 450.

I went for the FHD since a) I would be watching some DVDs on it and b) given the 3-4K I decided to go for the higher 5 series and "on paper" better technology. The 5 series looks good too.

Just want to update, that, I did pick up Panasonic Plasma - G10 P42. Yesterday it was delivered and installed at my place.

I am quite impressed with the quality and am really enjoying my movies now. Saw couple of them yesterday - Bourne Supremacy & Fast & Furious 4. Both are original DVDs and it was a visual treat.

I have used a Bravia 40 LCD for a year now, and while it works fine, the image quality drops off very quickly as one moves off center, the images can be seen but the colors get washed out. So, two questions - what distance do you view it from, and, lets say you put in 5 chairs in front of it at that distance, side by side with foot of space between each - would the image quality be close that in the center chair, from the two chairs at either ends. I am referring to use for DVD/Blu ray playback.

I got a promotional SMS from Adishwar, mentioning about good EMI schemes. You may want to check with them.

How much did this cost you? Any seasonal sweeteners?
