This cannot get better. I am pretty much in the same boat and am veering towards this whole new monolithic design thing from Sony Bravia. Looks pretty awesome.

But I am confused as hell. I am doing my research now...but would love to hear from folks as well.

1. Watch TV
2. Watch Movies
3 Play Games

Watch TV mostly. Not much the movies. But my folks will. Am also gonna get a PS3 Slim so I'll probably end up gaming a bit too.

PS: Am getting a good deal on the Sony range of telly's...

In my opinion, you can buy pretty much any TV that you like and if you are getting a good deal, it just makes choice easier.

Just make sure you compare it close to real life. E.g .if you have a window just in front of TV, see how it handles reflections.

Hi Guys,
I need to buy a 26 inch Lcd TV. But I am confused which one do I choose.

Panasonic - 21,500 (3 years warranty)
LG - 22,500 (1 Year Warranty) this is with 300w audio output.
LG - 20,000 (1 Year Warranty) this is with 100w audio output.
Samsung - 23,000 (1 Year Warranty).
Sony - 24,500 (1 Year Warranty).

Please advice which one will be better to go for. I am considering it for my bedroom.
Thanks in advance.

The answer is so obvious the one with the longest warranty also it is the best brand (amongst those mentioned in your post) as far as LCDs are concerned and the price is right.

Thanks Khoj.
Yes the answer is obvious but all the dealers I visited were not interested in selling panasonic. Somebody was rooting for Sony or for LG.

And I was always in the perception that panasonic is a very good brand in plasma TV but I am not very sure about panasonic in the LCD market.

The dealers may not be getting good margins on the same.

Know this, Panasonic's LCD panels are made in Japan at a facility owned by Hitachi where they make the panels for them selves, Panasonic and another Japanese electronic major it is either Sharp or Toshiba.

Sony's panels are either from Taiwan or China. Samsung has their own plant in S.Korea and I have no idea about LG. Forget Sony, they were King as long as they were making Trinitron CRT tvs. They do not make the LCDs themselves, yet charge for the brand and that is why their low range tvs are crap and the high end ones are priced in the Stratosphere.

From the choices you have I would pick up Panasonic or Samsung but then the Panny wins due to the warranty and price.

Since you are in Delhi why don't you go to a Panasonic Brand shop you may get a better deal too.

Regarding Panasonic, be aware of poor after sales (and even pre-sales) service in India.

I was planning to buy 50 inch plasma from Panasonic. I was told by Panasonic that I will have to pay before end of this month and they will be able to supply the TV in Second week of April.

My Primary usage is regular Serials and Movies only, no games!

Lots of dilemma whether to buy a LED LCD from Dubai or not..w.r.t cost and warranty!

Hi Folks,

After deliberating for almost a year on buying a flat panel TV and following this thread religiously, finally caved in to my desires and brought home a Panasonic 42C10S this Saturday night!

The only research I had done to finalise on the TV was going through this thread in detail (or refer to articles mentioned in this thread) and had made up my mind for the Panny C10 already - was now just looking around for a decent price. Checked late Fri (at around 10 pm) night in a local shop, the guy was wrapping up, so could not give me a demo, quoted a price that I was happy with and I promised to return on Sat and close the deal.

Went Sat night at 8.30 pm with wifey dearest, demo-ed the TV, got convinced (and convinced ma'am that I had done all the research and this is indeed the best TV) and struck a deal at Rs. 36,500 /-. Got it delivered at 10.30 PM and ready for viewing by 11.30 PM!

Have not been able to watch a whole lot yet, my 3 year old refuses to let me watch anything other than his cartoons (which were quite good running on DVDs) and only let me watch an IPL match for 30 mins (which was decent running on Dish TV). So far so good, happy to get this at this price-point.

Will provide a more detailed review later! A big thanks to everyone who's contributed to this thread, to help me make up this decision!

Cheers!

Have you zeroed in on any specific brand/ model?

I would use :

1. Cost difference between UAE / India
2. AMC from company in India

As parameters to decide.

LG provides AMC/Warranty for TVs bought outside. Give a call to LG to confirm this.

Moreover, wait for 2 -3 weeks. New LED models from all companies are awaited. Prices for existing models will drop significantly to clear stocks.

Hi Guys,
I have brought 32inch Panasonic X11D in 27,500 with 3 years warranty. I got a adidas tshirt, adidas cap and benetton wrist watch free with it.

I paid the price at 8:00pm and the tv was installed by 10:30pm, pre-service was prety good IMO.

Was it a one time payment or with EMI option? Any exchanges?
