I would use :

1. Cost difference between UAE / India
2. AMC from company in India

As parameters to decide.

LG provides AMC/Warranty for TVs bought outside. Give a call to LG to confirm this.

Moreover, wait for 2 -3 weeks. New LED models from all companies are awaited. Prices for existing models will drop significantly to clear stocks.
At present I've not zeroed in any brands as i'm new to LED models. Dad said price was around 450$ Do you know any good brand and its models?

Dad had suggested Sony Bravia. Do they give International Warranty if purchased from Dubai? Or we need to buy separately?
Does Sony provides AMC for its TVs brought from outside?

I'm sure the price in India compared to dubai are around 20-30k difference! Thats tempting me u know..

Was it a one time payment or with EMI option? Any exchanges?
It was a one time payment. But emi option was also there with 0% interest and no hidden charges, so that option makes more sense. Like 25k will be paid in 15 months.
But I paid all the money in one go.

I have used my SD card slot with it as well as hooked up my Laptop also with it, all worked perfectly and very easily.

Thanks Jayant. This was a one time payment (paid through cheque) and without any exchange.

Jassi...

Congrtas on you buy. Though I cannot help you on your query, I have a few of my onw

How is the picture quality? Is it worth going in for S10 or would a C10 be good enough? In case Full HD is the right config, was V10 an option?

Luckily escaped from the custom duty after a small bribe asked by our Pandus
Dad said there were many people carrying LCDs from Dubai as its quite cheap out there. So it was quite a pocketful for the customs people!

22 inch LCD - LG or Sony

Close to buying a small tv for the bedroom

22 inch LCD: LG 22LU11UR v/s 22 inch Sony Bravia BX300

Any input's and experiences?

The LG looks more 'attractive' and has higher sound output (not really a consideration).

The Sony would be going for the brand and is 500 bucks more expensive (immaterial)

Any reason not to go for the LG?

not sure about jassi , but i chose to invest in full hd due to the fact the it look litter better to me ( subjective ) and would not feel urge to upgrade soon ( HD is already being offered in Sun Direct TV ) . on regualr SD (viewing) it does not make any difference , but on HD is sure does

I remember watching a heads-up story on a TV show (here in Australia) about 3D TVs and was advised its still at R&D stage (even if its out in States or Europe, won't be in Auss for atleast another 3 years . Huh..so much for a "developed country").

Well you as per that show, you have to put on those twin coloured glasses to watch it.
Limitations:
1> you can't watch tv while doing other stuff i.e. working on a laptop or having a book in hand (I know it sounds strange but some people do it)

2> People with spectacles will find it impossible to put on two glasses at sametime.

Sounds more of a fancy at this stage but don't know how practically successful it'd be.

regards
Punzabi

Just got back from work and was enjoying my evening tea + watching news. The news said 3D tv are launched in Australia (yeah its a silly country and it was news) and will be available in retail from Monday onwards (16/04/10). The apprx price told was more than $2000 for a tv with two 3D glasses. No info on what size tv they are offering at 2 grand. will check it out once available in market
