re: The Tata Sky Thread

Hi everybody.
Yes, their quality is deteriorating and they keep increasing their tariff.
How can they increase their rates for the 30 days for which you have prepaid?
If you take out a monthly railway pass and during that time the railways increase the prices they dont reduce the validity of it. This is what TS has done last month.
I wrote on their FB home page and exchanged emails to no avail.
Want to change. What is the feedback on Dish or Videocon?
1 more point. Has anybody noticed that this year the disruption due to rain was more.
Regards

I took Grand sports, and it says 34 HD channels, but if i want to SEE them, another 2k. So basically, that comes to 7500 again, which is the mega hd fees.
Geez, these guys are ridiculous!
I screamed at them in their facebook wall. Basically, with all hidden charges, the total came to the same as mega HD. This was for Grand Sports plus second TV plus HD access plus star world premiere. Just two hundred bucks under.
So they switched my package to megaHD.

re: The Tata Sky Thread

I purchased Tata Sky back in 2012, subscribed for their mega south biannual pack for 10k. In 2014 when the renewal due date came up, they told me the biannual recharge option has been binned, and now I need to recharge annually for the mega pack @ Rs.6900 per year.

I promptly shifted this connection to my parent's home (who are happy without HD, all they need are a few regional and devotional channels), and switched to Videocon D2H. They had a add on called "HD Globe" at that time (costing some Rs.170 per month) that allowed you to view all HD channels. So I got their basic south pack plus HD Globe add on (Costed me some Rs.340 per month).

This year when the recharge due date came up in April, I saw they have binned the HD Globe, added some HD Access fee and increased the tariffs of all the packs. But to my surprise, since I was an existing customer subscribed to HD Globe, I could recharge it. And they gave me an option to recharge it for 5 years. So I went ahead and got the HD Globe and their basic south pack recharged till 2020.

So now I pay some Rs.330-335 per month, don't pay anything for HD Access, and get all the channels I, my wife and my in-laws want to watch. Their bare basic pack of course does not come with sports channels, but the HD Globe gives me Star Sports HD 1 and 2, Sony Six HD and Ten HD.

The only drawback is that since the HD Globe is discontinued, I won't get any new HD channels. Eg. AXN HD, Sony Pix HD, Colors Infinity etc.

So far I cannot ask for more, but this honeymoon period will end in April 2020.

This is what I have currently:

Base Pack: http://www.videocond2h.com/wsc/south_silver_pack.aspx

HD Globe: https://www.komparify.com/regions/in...-globe-add-on-

I would like to whole heartedly recommend Videocon to any troubled soul on Tata Sky. Just recharge for 5 years at once and protect yourself from all the price hike crap (they even give you 200 days free if you recharge for 5 years). Even reception during rains is considerably better than Tata Sky.

re: The Tata Sky Thread

Im thinking of shifting to videocon. At the max willing to spend Rs.400 pm, will that be be sufficient to get StarMovies, Star Sports, NatGeo, Pogo, Udaya TV all in the same pack?

re: The Tata Sky Thread

Hi everybody.
Seems Tata Sky is becoming worse.
My post of 15/10 mentioned that even when I had prepaid they raised their prices. 6 days before due date I received SMS to pay 810 for 30 days and 2 days later a SMS to pay 815.
Incidentally a month back I was paying 790 and a few months back it was 730.
All the hikes without any improvement in their srevice or any additional channels.
I too am thinking of switching to Videocon. Anybody here their customer? Please respond
Thanks and regards

re: The Tata Sky Thread

A few weeks back, I recharged my TATA SKY account with close to Rs 11k for 1 year. Please note that this includes two tata sky connections I have at my house. Looking at the per month cost for each connection, it does not look expensive. Please correct me if I am calculating incorrectly.

re: The Tata Sky Thread

I am having HD+ with recording facility.
From yesterday afternoon when it was switched on it started to download the software and continued for 5 hours. It would go on upto 90 percent and agains restart from 0 and upto 90. This was going on for 5 hours. Some numbers were changing on left top corner of the screen. Then I switched off the Box. After restart again same thing would happen. Once it started at at default channel 100 and when i changed channel it hanged after few minutes. Sometimes even channel 100 would get hanged. Today again the software downloading message came.
After complaining yesterday the technician visited today. The download message again came while he was there. The remote operations were not responded with.
The technician said the set top box needs to be replaced. Charges Rupees 870 or something like that. When I asked what is that USB port in front (another usb port is there at rear side having wifi dongle) near the card he said it has no use yet. When i asked whether it is for diagnostic he said no.
Has anybody experienced it. I had this set top box for last many years. Purchased when inaugural offer for Rs2000 was going on many years back.
Is there any other solution? please help.

I think I have the same box - the first HD+ box. I am not having any such issues - though I have a vague feeling that I will be getting the same error soon - so that they can force us to move to the newer boxes.

re: The Tata Sky Thread

All those recommending Videocon D2H, I used to do that as well. In fact I was closely tracking videocon as I planned to shiftover once my Tata Sky subscription ended. Videocon was a way cheaper and Tata Sky looked like a loot business. However something changed just before my TataSky ran out of its last subscription.

Suddenly TataSky started adding HD and near HD channels at a breakneck speed. Everyday a new HD channel would get added and it went to the extent that I knew the price will go up for sure but did not mind as long as it was reasonable increase. On the parallel Videocon suddenly changed their packages and the new prices suddenly took away all the price advantages that they had over their rivals. Suddenly their costs started adding up to more than what I was paying for TataSky for the same set of channels.

So the idea to shift was promptly burried. Today TataSky remains a pretty well stocked in terms of channels bouquet and also its prices.

I just replaced by TS HD Remote by calling TS CC. They charged 200 /- for it. Rather deduct it from your Account Balance.

I Called up Tata Sky and they informed the same. The HD+ remote is for Rs375/- and they will deduct the same from my account. They even mentioned that I can give Rs375 to the delivery guy and he will top my account with that balance so that my annual package does not get reduced by a few days
