WP7 or WP8? WP7 only options are SkyDrive or email to self. WP8 can be seen in the file explorer. So copy and paste.

Re: The Windows Phone Thread

Hey all,

My sis recently got the lumia-920 for herself. As i have no previous experience of a windows phone, i dont know of any good apps/games to recommend to her. Any good apps that are a must to have ??

She is a gadget freak so wont mind apps/games that are a bit technical.

Apps and games are very subjective things. We can recommend based any specific requirements that she may have.

Are there no apps like Dropbox or Google+ with instant upload? That should sync your snaps with cloud/PC.

There is no official G+ app (but there are few free ones). Dropbox is an option. This is for a friend and he wants to avoid any upload, download cycle. He was considering Lumia 510.

It has an instant upload but only to Facebook or SkyDrive.

No difference in options between WP7 & WP 7.8

Then Skydrive should solve the problem. Just that, make sure its not uploading on the 3G/GPRS if you dont need upload cycle. Upload only with a Wifi at home.

I was eyeing the Windows Phone OS ever since they unveiled the WP8, as I found Android to be way too common around me. And I am mighty impressed with the fluid UI of the WP8, the screen is bright and colour reproduction is very good ( for me at least ) and I have been exploring the phone from the morning. But highly disappointed as I could not install WatsApp, as the Microsoft market place is down since today morning ( read over the net ) I hope they fix it by today, and help me install all my favorite Apps.

Thank you for this, I was wondering why I am unable to download apps from the store!!!
I got myself a Lumia 820 (yellow). Have been exploring the phone since the past two days & I simply love it. Was always a Nokia fanboy, but got an HTC Explorer A310E as a gift 3 months back. I found it laggy & S-L-O-W & finally got a Lumia 820.

It's good to be back :-P

Managing Skydrive space is overhead in this way.

Re: The Windows Phone Thread

Just a quick question. I have a HTC P3450 which I don't use anymore.
Is there a possibility that I can upload an Android OS on my phone?
Will the phone support the new OS and how can I go about it?

Since the Windows Mobile platform is dead anyway and the phone hardware doesn't support the Windows Phone platform, no harm in trying out Android.

It is possible to install earlier versions of Android OS on the old Windows Mobile phones like P3450 as DIY and use whatever features would available. There are blogs where they have listed the steps as well as what to expect.

BTW, we would be going discussing Windows Mobile on the Windows Phone thread

It would make sense to wait for WP8 moreover since there will be no more updates for WP7.8. The 620 has gotten very good reviews for being an absolute value for money phone.

Re: The Windows Phone Thread

This is what I see upon turning my 820 on. This shows for about 5 seconds and boots in after that. The phone itself works well but thought I should ask about it.

Seems like a boot loader image bug. You can try doing a hard reset once. If that doesn't solve the problem, contact Nokia customer care. Normally those 5 seconds show a Nokia image.
