It all depends on the amp which you are going to pair it with due to the sound signature of each component. So better choose the speakers first, then the amp

Very sane advice! Bookshelves are the way to go all the way upto 1lac or thereabouts as all floorstander designs at low price are compromised some way or the other.

btw Heco Vector series there was an ocean of difference between Victa Prime 702 vs lower models, most likely he is going with it. But thanks will checkout Q acoustics.
We took our own music so that we have the same baseline when comparing. Also there are many factors like the driving amp Denon vs Pioneer vs Onkyo there are differences in the tone/output on the same speaker series.

Not sure what it was - it was a big floorstander with 3 drivers. Absolutely rubbish sounding. I heard it at a hifivision bangalore meet.

In this particular case the speaker was being driven by an Exposure 3010s2. So there was plenty of power. I've heard that amp with other equipment and it sounds brilliant. So it most definitely was not the amp's fault.

Have been in the market to buy a basic Home theatre system for my home. Am a total noob at this. Went to the usual brands the other day and overall zeroed on this model from Sony specially since I was looking at something which comes with wireless support. Any views on the same will be greatly appreciated.

Sony htibs have very limited connectivity. Check the number and types of input jacks and the devices you would like to connect to it. I too bought a BD E290 without giving much thought and as a result had a tough time in getting the audio output of my HD D2h stb through it. Also, the Sony speaker jacks are hard to find which makes extending the length of the wires quite a chore.

Finally my home theater setup also moved with me to Chennai, the shipping took nearly 4 months from it left my house at USA.

Not sure if my Blu-ray player from US could play Indian version of CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs. (Though the US TV works well with all the HD and non-HD channels from Tatasky)

Yet to be done:
1. Now it is time to shop around the furniture shops for some quality couch to match my setup.

2. Surround speaker wires are actually hanging around as the apartment completed before I purchased it, hence couldn't conceal the 2 pairs of wires each side. Need to find a matching and quality duct to hide them.

Don't go for HTIB's, better get Best of breed and orchestrate them together

My speakers are rated 4 - 8 Ω. Now, I am eyeing an amp that is rated 6 - 16 Ω. Can I even consider pairing my speakers with this amp or should I look for something rated lower?

I like to buy a simple to use and install home theatre system. Anything that I can buy with wireless rear speakers included from the popular consumer audio companies like Sony, Philips etc

Also love to see how you route and install the wires especially the rear ones

I auditioned/bought the Dali Zensor 3 in March 2014 from Vipul Audio Tech at Kilpauk (it is nearby the Kilpauk cemetery). I bought it for 28,000 INR per pair (after discount, including VAT, and with bill). I suppose Volumate in Mylapore also carry Dalis, but I am not sure.

Hi Friends,
Planning to assemble a home theatre for living room 14 X 12 feet. Very confused , since there are so many choices , but finally narrowed down to a few. Need to strictly wall mount the speakers except for the sub. Narrowed down to PSB imagine mini, Monitor Audio Radius 90 & the B&W M1. Not decided the sub yet. Regarding the AVR , interested in Marantz 1604 or Yamaha RXV 675.
Would really appreciate fellow members opinions on the above items.
