Does anybody know how do I restore the dictionary in Kindle? I accidentally deleted the dictionaries from my amazon account ( thinking i woudnt need them!) even before I registered my Kindle!!

You can do that from your amazon account. Dictionary is a very good feature BTW.

Bought a beautiful leather case for the Kindle from Croma. It even comes with a nice little reading lamp built in!

At Rs 3699 it is expensive and almost 75% of what we paid for our Kindle.

But it is very well worthwhile....

Thanks @TaureanBull. I just logged into my Amazon account again and saw that the dictionaries have magically reappeared. Just pushed the dictionary to my device and it has started download!

Even OEM Kindle cases are good quality with hinges instead of straps for locking the device. You can opt for the reading lamp too which takes power from the device. Can you post pics or comment on the quality? Which brand is it?

Its an OEM Amazon Kindle case with the light. Black leather. Looks very premium. As you said it takes juice from the Kindle itself for the light to come on.

I'm in the market to buy an ebook reader, and based on reviews, I'm planning to get a Nook Simple Touch, mainly because I'm getting it at a pretty cheap price (60 USD + shipping/customs) and it is powered by Android. Just wanted to know if there are any Nook users here and if there are any negatives in the NST. Not getting the Kindle e-ink because of the lack of touch screen and it's a bit pricey too.

FYI - Kindle Paperwhite does have touch. The lowest model available in Croma is the only one without touch I think. I have used Kindle Touch and Paperwhite and am very satisfied with both of them. Worth every penny.

Amazon Appstore is going international (China launch has happened recently). So a major disadvantage is now removed.

I have been using nook simple touch for more than 3 months now. Pretty good and vfm product. It is an android device so you can root it as well. It has really good battery backup. I have recharged it only twice till now and read almost 1500 pages on it. Only issue would be if you like reading in the night a lot, you will need an extra light. Get a case for sure. I am in need for one as getting cases for it in Hyderabad is difficult.

At 60$ it is a really nice deal.

Was planning to write a short review on Nook Simple Touch since a long time, but always postponed it for some reason or the other. Anyway, here's a brief review of the same.

An eBook reader was on my to-buy list from a long time. I couldn't resist buying it when I found out that it was available for pretty low prices on eBay.com. I basically had 2 options, Amazon Kindle vs Barnes & Noble Nook Simple Touch (NST). I did a comparo between the both and found the following positives and negatives for the NST:

+ve:
Cheaper
Has a touchscreen
Claims to have a better battery life
Android OS, so you can root and install apps on it

-ve:
Amazon officially sells the Kindle in India, so you could get spares in case something goes wrong.
B&N is planning to sell the Nook business.
Lesser choice in accessories.

After evaluating, I decided to go with the NST. Found a seller on eBay selling the NST for $58.00 with free US shipping. Contacted iShopInternational for a quote, got an all inclusive quote of INR 4,300 incl. shipping and customs.

In case anyone is interested in the breakdown,

NST - INR 3,200
Shipping - INR 800
Customs - INR 800
Total - 4,800
(Discount) - 500 (Coupon: 1st purchase)
Total paid = 4,300

After ordering it on May 2nd, I recieved the Nook on May 8th. After completing the first charge in 2 hours, I used it for 30 days (1 hour/day usage) before it gave the low battery warning, which translates to 30 hours of usage on a 3 hour charge which I guess is more than adequate. Touchscreen is also great. Haven't got the time to root it and install better pdf readers, but will do the same within a couple of days. It can read ePub, mobi, pdf, txt and other common file formats. Purchased 2 basic accessories, a silicon cover and a screenguard.

As written, the retail box is slightly damaged with a peeled off sticker. Just rub it off with a bit of acetone, and you won't be able to spot the difference.

Absolutely love the Kindle Paperwhite. It handles the ebooks amazingly well. The magazines & newspapers bought on the Amazon website is a simple touch on the screen. I would have loved to get a proper Indian journal and a decent newspaper though.

Though I use it 90% of the times to read a book sometimes I do surf the internet. Some websites work fairly well. The battery backup with the occasional wifi is about 2-3 weeks.

It does not handle pdf's well at all. However if you email a pdf to you (at the kindle id) it gets converted into an ebook and is slightly better. There one more great feature called the 'Send to Kindle'. Once installed in firefox you can send any webpage using the same.

So if you want to use something to read books - I will absolutely recommend a Kindle Paperwhite.
