Well, I would suggest you to future proof yourself for next 2-3 years by going for a higher config phone with dual core and lots of RAM. The android HW specs are going further & further up and hence it makes sense to go for a new faster higher end phone if you intend to move to never versions of Android (like 4.0 which is expected by end of the year) if budget is not a concern for you. (my advice does not hold if you plan to buy a new phone when the new version of the OS comes out).

Also, check if Youtube works on defy, if you watch youtube videos

@Invisible and others.

The leomar and check rom combo is kicking some serious dash. I have never S2 so snappy. Specially the lags with the dark screen for various applciations are just not there anymore and the phone is very very fast.

The battery life is just stunning. WIth extended usage including GPS and navigation as well as games i am still at 27% after 23Hours.

This even before calibrating the battery.

Would recommend the Check Rom 1.0 for anyone who wants a stable, fast and fantastic rom.

Yup, its quite snappier than previous version. The Rom XXKI4 is official release rather than most of the custom roms which were developed on leaked version.
Its far smoother than the KI3 I can say this as I also have SGP glass shield and difference is quite noticeable.
Try and install Speedmod k2.8 kernal and after 2-3 full 100-0-100 battery cycle the battery life is even better than the Cf root kernal. Make a nandroid backup before you flash the kernal and clear the cache and dalvik, battery stats too.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

A close friend of mine had over the weekend, tried to update his LG Optimus One P500 to the legit update of Android 2.3 - legit as in update from LG. He said it asked him to restart the mobile after removing the battery during the update, which he did. It then did not start back again. He said it is bricked. But I believe that it can be restored. Any ideas?

Sold my Nokia C7 and bought my first droid. Samsung Galaxy Y. Retails at INR 7000/-. A real VFM phone. Runs on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread. The phone is really good except the small keyboard, owing to the small 3 inch screen.

The Defy supports full flash, so there are no issues with youtube, besides you also have the app. Been reading a lot on the Defy +, no idea on the pricing as yet. Anybody have any idea ?

Mr. J received tons and thousands of sympathetic RIP messages through internet forums and social networking sites. Several of them were just worth nothing more than a statement; 'Hey I too know Steve Jobs'.

Now this. The point is, who really cares whether he hated Android or not? May be some iFans would have scraped their decision to move to Android.

If he can get into download mode, it is not bricked, and you need not take it to the a/s/s. With right tools, you can fix it yourselves.

At least, if you can get the battery charging logo when the phone is off, the a/s/s/ can fix it. Probably, you can, with a jig.

If you do not get even a battery charging logo, things are real bad. But that rarely happens, unless you use the wrong ROM.

Dunno about the C7. YOu can try usiing the swype keyboard, usually standard with samsung phone (it is on mine). Else, you can download it from the market.

How are Indian languages on this ROM? Ought to work perfectly - at least Hindi.

I am very interested in the Neo V too! However, I have been reading around the reports on the internet about its very poor battery life. Some say, just 5 or so hours!
So please go ahead with your purchase as its otherwise a great phone and let me know if that is an issue, so that I can buy it too!

Did you guys order this one? A friend of mine wants to buy Galaxy SL but is tempted to go for this deal. Is it safe to purchase a mobile from snapdeal?
