I have a 8gig memory card and use Apps 2 SD to move applications to SD card, still part of apps stays in the internal memory of the phone.

What is the best way to manage apps on an android device? I believe XCD35's internal memory is around 180mb.
Check a few pages behind, I had explained how to get a2sd+ working in your rooted phone. The idea is to create an ext3 partition in your Sd card and make the phone use that as internal memory to install apps.

Posting from mobile so it's difficult to find the exact post and link it here.

I don't want to root the phone for at least a year as it is for my brother. He will not have any internet access, so don't want to take any risks. Guess I'd have to make do with whatever internal memory is available.

The trick is to see what apps use how much space. Unfortunately stuff like Angry birds takes 18-20 MB, as does Skype (10mb). So I would suggest Apps2SD+

There is no other alternative - unless your brother plans to install very little apps.

Apps2SD is the only way unless your brother will not install many apps!

Rooting is not evil and takes one click to do and undo

Can you point to some easy way to root the phone? I believe just rooting won't void the warranty?

I tried Universal Androot, but it failed.

Try this?

Without root, moving apps to Sd card with apps like A2SD and moving them manually to sd card - all are equal. The apps just save you time and hassle.

This worked. Thanks. I searched this entire thread for instructions on a2sd+, but couldn't find it. May be I'm not searching for right keyword. Can you point me to the post explaining the procedure?

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Hi Guys, ordered one Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V from buytheprice.com. It was going at 16376 after all cashback/discounts. It was much cheaper than flipkart/ letsbuy.com which were selling at 17500. Will update how the overall experience is.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I downloaded a good personal expense manager app called "Expense Manager". Its a pretty neat application to manage your expenses and offers you the chart by the category of expenditure.

The other app which I have already mentioned in this forum is "aCar". Its also another neat application to manage your car records. It helps you compute your running costs, mileage and service history.

Once you have installed CM7.1, you can install a small app from market called "S2E". This app works only for CM7 phones and this will help you move all your apps to an ext3/ext4 partition in your SD card without typing in commands.

Before that, you might want to create an ext3/4 partition in your SD card. Take the help of Clockworkmod recovery to do that.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Hey guys, I am in need of some help. I have a one year old Samsung Galaxy 3 currently running on Froyo I5801DDJP2 which i had updated via Kies some time back. I want to keep this phone for some more time now but i feel that it is totally lacking in performance and has a poor battery life. This feeling especially increased since the time i got myself an SGS2. Is there something that can be done? I know i can't compare it to the S2 but still can some custom ROM be installed so that the UI doesnt seem so laggy. Please point me in the right direction. Also i would like to point out that i am a total noob when it comes to flashing ROMs. I had gone through xda developers but i could not make any sense out of it.

Any kind of help will be greatly appreciated.
Regards.
