Spooky this post of yours . My BB started acting weird last evening. The battery had drained completely, so I switched off the device and put it up for charging. On restarting, the display started flickering. Called up the vendor, who happens to be my good friend and told him about this, he suggested that I take the phone to the service centre at Khar and insist on getting a Dead on Arrival certificate (DoA). I did go there and got the DoA certificate today. Now I'll be getting the new replacement handset on Monday. Nice thing this DoA is.

Have to add, there were quite a few customers with the new BB Bold Touch handsets at the service centre and most of them had complaints about the battery. I guess this handset now officially suffers from battery draining issues.

Good to know you got the DOA and will be getting a replacement tomorrow.

Hope the new handset serves you better.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Hi Guys,

I'm using BB Torch 9800 on Vodafone BB599 plan. Is anyone else using the same plan?
I'm facing lot of difficulty in browsing the internet, most of the times it shows error message that server is not available. I have contacted Vodafone about the same issue, they made me delete and re install some files. Even after doing so couple of times, my problem is still very much their, internet connects sometimes and sometimes not.

Are you all facing the same issue, I'm using BB since last 3 weeks only.

I am on 899 BES from Airtel. I have a 9300 curve 3G running OS6.

Assuming you are talking about browsing on the phone, try activating 3G on the phone and see if you notice any difference. On my phone, once 3G was turned ON, the phone's browsing capabilities were enhanced. Was able to play you tube without any issues + normal browsing of websites was ok too.

All, If you are on 899 plan & activate 3G (pay per usage plans) you do not get charged for 3G. Airtel at least has clubbed 899 + 3G together so you don't end up paying 899 + 3G plan charges. Of course both BES + 3G has to be activated separately. The 3G charges would only apply if you connect your BB to PC and then browse the internet. If you just browse on your BB, you enjoy 3G speeds with unlimited browsing + downloading (as per BES plan)

So what i have done is, activated BES + 3G (pay per usage plan). When i called airtel after a week to check my last 7 days 3G usage it was 0. (I never connect my phone to the laptop. Never)

Cheers

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Guys - I need to buy a new BB. My budget is 20k. What is a better option:
Curve 9360 with OS 7 or Bold 3 9780 with OS 6?

I've heard serious battery issues on Bold 4 running OS 7. Is that true for the new Curve as well?

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

The Ghost is back to haunt again,

India Might Ban BlackBerry Services again.

Within hours after after Research in Motion agreed to give user codes to Saudi Telecom regulators for monitoring the BlackBerry Messenger, India gave an ultimatum to RIM on the same issue. India once again raised the alarm that if security concerns are not met, BlackBerry services may be temporarily stopped in the country

India Might Ban BlackBerry Services

Yaa its down again. And this time Enterprise users are affected too. Earlier downtime affected only consumer users.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

For Non-Enterprise users its still the same story servers are down.
Blackberry is simply not an Blackberry without its BB services.

Any ideas as to when the problem would be solved?

I've been reading diametrically opposite reviews of the keypad on the new Curve. Seems that either you can love it or hate it.

Also, Bold 4 9900 OS 7 users have reported major battery issues. Does that carry on in new Curve as well?

It should be back sometime tonight. But since RIM does not know root cause (yet), their focus is on keeping Enterprise connectivity up. Instability for consumer accounts might continue for few days.
