Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

MRP drops means, we will be able to get 10-20% lower than the MRP.

So, this price drop is welcome.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Is it an indication that RIM is in its death throes?

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

here is the new price for blackberry phones in bangalore
only for price revised phones
model old price new price

9360 curve 18990 17600
9380 curve 19990 15700

this is too good pricing, this is not because RIM is going through the bad face but price correction because of the $ hike.RIM is doing extremely well in the corporate business sector in India

the point is, MRP are official prices, hence an official announcement, don't read too much into it if it doesn't impact you..

Also, 9860 is already available for Rs 20.5-21.5k.

8520 is also available for significantly lower price of Rs 8250.

So what's the real deal here? Another marketing gimmick for the offline customers?

P.S. All the above prices are sourced from Saholic, Flipkart and Letsbuy.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

The logic is RIM trying to bring uniform pricing pan India whether it be online, LFRs or small retailers. Will they succeed god knows but they are trying.

There was a lot of backend schemes being passed on differential basis which was leading to a lot of confusion. Now that has stopped to an extent.

But like i said, we can only wait and watch what happens

@nandishpal - My post about online prices was in response to @deathwalkr's post. If you compare online prices to his post, you will see that I was correct.

However, you have posted a different price drop chart (I believe you are a dealer right?). As you can see, there is a massive difference between your prices and his. And of course, online prices are yet to reflect the price drop. Generally, they put up new prices within 3-4 days of any price drop (e.g. some online stores are yet to correct iPad 2 prices!)

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Guys seriously chill down. I had only mentioned the new Maximum Retail Price and not the selling price which will obviously be lower than MRP and which will vary from party to party state to state.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Just got an email from Landmark (the book store). It seems they too have gone the Flipkart way and have been selling mobile phones of late. Anyway, the mail announced "Price Drop on select BlackBerry models" and I was pleasantly surprised to see an online store being so quick.

Here's a screenshot. As you can see, the VFM and I believe fastest selling Curve 8520 has been quite deliciously priced. The other two models may be a bit higher than offline prices.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Bought the 9380 Curve for the missus a couple of days back. The Blackberry Service has not been activated yet, some issues with Vodafone. Seems like a good phone, the touchscreen is pretty responsive. Not confident about the battery life though. My 9780's battery still has the best life. I replaced the Display, Ringer/Speaker, Scratch Guard, Battery & bought a new car charger. So this phone will last me for a while & i can go ahead with the Note purchase.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Hi Folks,

I'm planning to buy a BB phone for the missus soon and the gadget noob that I am, would like your advice about which model to buy.

The criteria are: Budget Rs.15k, touch screen not needed, should have QWERTY keypad, good performance, i.e. fast responses to button clicks, a fully charged battery should last a couple of days at the very least [with phone + email usage], good sound clarity, robust body shell [yeah, she's a little clumsy] plus the usual paraphernalia of camera etc.

From what I've found on the net, the BB Curve 9300 seems to fit the bill. Is this a decent phone, or are there any models that are better?

Comments/opinions welcome!

Cheers,
Vikram

Battery aint great, nor the camera. I use cam a lot and now the rubber part/button has gone! but its very robust, has fallen from my hand couple of times.

Stretch a bit more and get a Bold.

Thanks for the feedback, jkdas! Did you have any particular model in the Bold range in mind?

Update: Bought the BB Curve 9360 on Saturday for Rs.18k. I actually liked the 9300 more than the 9360, but the missus wanted a 5 MP camera, rather than the 2 MP one on the 9300. Overall, the phone seems to satisfy all the criteria listed in my previous post, except the battery one.

Anyway, fingers crossed that it turns out to be a good buy & not a lemon!

Cheers,
Vikram
