Well, the difference here is (compared to the 2012 Civic), the 2012 City is a mere facelift, whereas the 2012 Civic is an entirely new car.

IMHO, the facelift will definitely help. The car now has really good spread in the C-Segment. The CE is exceptionally good value with all safety features incorporated (which is quite unique in this segment). But for bargain hunters eyeing the top end variants, there is nothing much encouraging. I guess likes of Vento/Rapid top end petrol must be cheaper than V-MT variant, and the Rapid Elegance TDI is actually cheaper than V-MT SR (OTR Kerala).

Exactly my point. They made available most of the upgrade feautures on this variant and priced it the initial Honda way :(

(to note is the fact that the price has not varied, but the earlier ~70k discount is making the pinch felt now)

hey, did anybody notice the brochure pictures of the facelifted City?
All of the pictures shows that the rear brake is a disc!

Note the marked portion in the picture below.

Not necessarily.

The City in the pic could be the Thailand or Brazil version.

Eg. I'm attaching the brochure for Thailand City. The V variants do have disc brakes at the rear.

no wonder the brochure pics are sporting fatter tires as well. Remember someone pointing out that as well.
All the stuff we wont get are put in the brochure for teasing purpose alone

@ libranof1987, yes i knew the Indian version doesnt have rear discs. Was pointing out the mismatch between the actual and the depicted.

^^That’s quite disappointing - especially for those who do the initial research based on the information available on the website. Why do these companies take integrity for granted when it comes to India?

Hey p'arth,
A small update - deliveries will start 15th Jan so I expect my car between 15-20th.
No discount info yet.

I think this may not be possible, with the changes to the front bumper that have been made.
I was thinking about a custom made mesh grille. But it seems like the old grille will also be a straight fit. The outer shape looks the same.

No idea on the cost.

Re: 2012 Honda City launched. Pics on page 11

does anyone know about the latest City pricing strategy?
The difference between the CE and the E model is a whopping 71k.

And for that the additional features that the E gets are just, body colored mirrors/door handles, beige fabric, silver ac knob, mudguard and mp3 player with only front speakers.

Whatever math i do, not able to relate the 71k to the above!

I think, the difference is just for creating the platform to increase the subsequent variant's price.

Saw the car in Flesh and Blood

Had been to Magnum Honda in Bangalore for the first service of my V-AT. I then paid a visit to the showroom to check out 2012 version of Honda City. I must say, i am not impressed, not that I have the older version. There is too much chrome everywhere. The grills, the door handles, the AC Knobs, I mean, that's too much according to me.

I was only impressed with the Smoky blue instrumentation console and the redesigned Tail lamps.

The V-AT version OTR including extended warranty is 11.5. Thats pretty steep acc to me.

Like someone said, the E and CE models may be worth considering. Again, since its a new model, no discounts are offered.

You've got it bang on, friend. I liked the rear lights because the old ones seem a little uninspired and blocky. And I personally think orange/amber is a very boring (and hurtful to the eyes) colour for an instrument panel.

Libran, blue volt, ravenavi, gurus-

8.6L is the out of the door price for my CE city including accessories.
Dropped the idea of Caska as was really not impressed by the sound vs cost analysis.

A few questions:
- the dealer is quoting me 5515 as enrichment charge. Will sit down and talk to them at the time of final payment. However, what exactly is this? Enrichment of rto?
- Honda Assure with zero dep has been quoted at 24921 - does it sound ok for 6.99 L ex showroom?
- 3700 for silver color paint of mudflaps, door handles & side mirrors.

Please see the attached sheet. I think the CE makes a lot of sense now when fitted with accessories, alloys & tyre upsize of choice with black interiors SANS the chrome bling!

Discounts offered:

- NONE.
1) What the heck are enrichment charges?! Never heard of them.

2) With 0% depreciation, Honda Assure sounds okay to me. I must have forgotten to insist for that as well. Will check with my dealer then get back to you.

3) Paint job will cost you anywhere between 2.5K-3.5K. Ask them for a breakup of the painting costs of mudflaps, door handles and side mirrors separately.

And Caska helps a lot with the GPS navigation, cellphone pairing for answering/making calls, reverse camera, etc. The sound is decent enough for non-audiophiles. I think at 33K it makes sense to get one. It's definitely not recommended for anyone looking for superior sound - that's where Alpine should be the sole choice (if not, then either Blaupunkt or Rockford). I am glad you are going for the same.

Btw, which alloys are you going for at 17K? And is that per alloy or cost of all 4 alloys? And what is that "Primary.." thing which is quoted at 15K?

At 8.6L overall, the CE sounds like a delicious proposition, specially when customised to one's own tastes/choices. Good job, buddy.
