Re: The "NEW" Car Price Check Thread - Track Price Changes, Discounts, Offers & Deals

Jacking up prices and blaming rising input costs for the same is such a cliché. The fact is input costs have actually gone down massively for most manufacturers.

For manufacturers like MSIL, Hyundai, TATA and Mahindra; the ones who have been setting the sales charts on fire, their record topline and bottomline numbers are a clear giveaway that this has got nothing to do with input costs but purely and squarely corporate greed. Make hay while the sun shines is the mantra because who knows, the next massive interest rate hike or even a larger economic recession may be looming just round the corner. Or maybe not and this fire would just continue to burn. Who knows?

This just seems like a really wrong time to be buying a car unless someone really has a dire need for one.

Wondering if KIA gave any reasons for this hike. To me it appears to be a pure greed at work now.

On the other hand, MSIL reported a massive 334 percent year-on-year (YoY) growth in its standalone net profit for the quarter ended September FY23. If there is a material shortage and raw material pressure, how are auto OEM's declaring such massive profits.

Pure greed and nothing else. Input cost of all material has reduced over the last year or so. It seems, as is for all other industries, the customer is being forced to pay a 'covid tax' wherein lost earning for a few months are being recovered along with shylock's pound of flesh.

And why not. They delivered a good product, which finally got a “approved” seal. I am really happy for Taigun/Kushaq. Time to rake in the moolah.

The way Skoda is raising the price every 3 months, probably investing in Skoda cars for the medium term is better than stocks/MF/SIP/FD etc

Is Jeep India testing its luck too far?
Buyer's in this segment are discerning, have travelled the world and are well aware of vehicle attributes. The Compass is a nice vehicle but is it worth such a price premium? Increasing prices annually is acceptable but I don't know how potential customers will take to such regular increases in MRP. Also the reports about recent reliability/fault incidents on new Compass models; does not instill much confidence in buyer's mind.
Possibly a new Kodiaq AWD L&K or a Tiguan AllSpace AWD is a good option.
Or a used RR Evoque.

Sorry for being slightly off topic, but when will our market take the step up, where we don't need to have -
  1. Car with 25k cash discount
  2. Shampoo with 7% Extra (To a net total of 200ml miraculously)
  3. Detergent powders with 10% Off
  4. The list goes on...
An entire generation & some, has seen this everywhere & knows how it works. Coming generations know it from birth mostly. Isn't this enough already?
Aren't there any better ways to put those MBA Marketing degrees to work?

Dealerships like those of Tata, Renault, have inadvertently taken this step upwards. "This is what it is. Take it or leave." .

Anyone hearing any discounts on the current generation BMW 3 series? Next generation is scheduled for launch around Jan/Feb next year.

I'll be glued to this thread for sure
