re: 2014 Mahindra Scorpio Facelift (W105). EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 7.98 lakhs

looks like they have a large center console/entertainment may be with touch screen and you might see the reverse camera view in it. It would have been better if the center console is inclined a bit instead of straight drop from the dash which would give a very nice feel and will be easy to use.

M and M is mostly associated with UV type vehicles. Sedan or hatch isn't their strong hold.
Why don't they get some engineering fineness from Ssoyong and make their existing lineup truly worldclass. Rexton type of interior and handling will do wonders on Scorpio and XUV.
Both, Scorpio and XUV deserve better engineering and interiors. With this they can give stiff competition to a class above.

I have a feeling Mahindra will surprise people with the scorpio facelift

They have a lot of scope to play around with the pricing as most of the production line will be fully depreciated by now and with the xuv price having been gradually increased

I just hope they addressed interior packaging and suspension issues

This one should be interesting...... 11 to 12 otr will be a big blow to duster

re: 2014 Mahindra Scorpio Facelift (W105). EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 7.98 lakhs

From the recent spy shots, it looks like the shape hasn't changed much. Isn't W105 supposed to be a heavily revised version on the existing platform?

The spy pics seem to suggest a shark nose type of front end similar to the Lancer Evo/Outlander and other recent designs where the headlights converge into a prominent nose section. The interiors also look like a great improvement over the present round vents which looks pathetic. This should help the Scorpio continue its dream run of around 3.5-4k units per month. Nicely done.

Looks promising! If the front does have a Dodge-like look, it ain't a bad thing! Those Durangos look the part for sure!
As a former Scorpio owner, I'd love to see the following improvements:
- improved dash design and ergonomics (pics suggest this is happening)
- a gear lever without the truck-like vibrations
- better seats, both front and rear
- reduced ride pitch and yaw
- eliminate the "nose dive" on braking
- dead pedal, more storage areas and cubby holes
- some contemporary creature comforts would be welcome (that said, I hope they don't go overboard with electronic gizmos.. could do without a lengthy 'Scorpio niggles' thread!)

Will be exciting to see what the end product is as well as the pricing. Can cause some concerns for the Duster and Ecosport if the price points intersect. One would definitely get more car for the money with the Scorp and that appeals a helluva lot to the Indian buyer.

There is not enough room inside the already cramped Scorpio interiors to do an inclined center console as in the XUV. We have to keep in mind that the Scorpio is an extremely cramped package, from the wheelbase point-of-view. Even the present Scorp has an almost vertical center console.

Just height wont do. Why isnt the roof tapering down like in the XUV? I dont feel secure in a Scorpio as much as an XUV.

In a ladder frame SUV like the Scorpio, the floor quite noticeably rises as you move from the front to the back because thats how the underlying chassis sections also move. Hence the roof also goes up a bit to provide that additional head room ( not necessarily while seated ) but more when one needs to crawl in to take the last row seating. This adds to the sense of space as well. Try sitting in the last row of the XUV and you could feel claustrophobic.

But yes, I agree, a sloping down roof or alteast a flat one will add immensely to the aesthetics

All Toyotas except the RAV4 are body on ladder frame, but they don't have a tapered roof!!

Please do provide some explanation on them also.

These Toyotas you are referring to - do they have a comfortable third row in terms of ingress ? The Safari has a similar roof for a similar reason. If you think otherwise maybe you can share your thoughts with everyone here

Toyota Land Cruiser, Prado and Fortuner have decent leg room even in the 3rd row.

Land Cruiser is most popular desert safari vehicle in the UAE and the 3rd row is very much used for passengers.

The current Prado has the 3rd row which collapses into the floor rather than being folded side ways like the Fortuner, and is very much comfortable for seating two adults or three kids.

Fortuner's third row is the congested of these three Toyotas, where by seating two adults My friends have extensively used the vehicle for off-roading.

The seating in third row of these three Toyotas is much better compared to Scorpio. I can't compare them with XUV 500 as I have not tested it.

Drive safe and wear the seat belt.

The XUV 's third row is very cramped the scorpio's is definitely better as we can slide the middle row. Interesting thing is Mahindra seems to be trying to position the Scorpio as more premium and at the same time making the XUV more affordable. We may actually get a better equipped Scorpio at the price of the XUV W4
