I feel they should not do it ( like what TML has done with the Storme ). Rather a good sliding mechanism for 2nd row should suffice. That way, you can also put to use a front facing 3rd row for that occassion where you will have > 5 people to lug around.

Wow! You just snatched words from my mouth. I prefer a spacious 5-seater over congested 7-seater where you have to beg someone to sit in the last row. Personally I think all the so-called 7-seaters in India suck at the last row. So, better a 5-seater for me. M&M can at least have Scorpio in 5-seater and a 7-seater configurations so as to give people a choice.

The current Scorpio in its 8 seater avatar allows one to remove the last row quite easily and the middle row slides back and you can tilt the back rest we well. So you can easily make it a 5 seater. What I would like M&M to do to to improve the ride and handling

Looks promising. But when are they going to launch it?? Dealers have no clue yet. Pricing strategy will also be interesting. Enough testing Mahindra... just launch the damn thing!

re: 2014 Mahindra Scorpio Facelift (W105). EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 7.98 lakhs

I dont think they will make Scorpio a 5 seater Ever. Since Ertiga and innova are turning out to be "hit" models, They would not launch a scorpio 5 seater.

Some enthusiasts are noted to dumped the jump seats and install woofer boxes. On the same lines, if one needs a spacious 5 seater, he can push the second row all the way back and enjoy kingly space.

IF the second row is moved too much back, it might be a challenge to get confortable, as one has to "climb and Walk" to get to the seats.

If they could make Quanto a 7 seater, I dont think Scorpio, which is longer than Quanto would be a 5 seater ever.

Happened to see this yesterday in CarBlogIndia website.
http://www.carblogindia.com/mahindra...otype-spotted/
As per this website the 2,2 litre mHawk engine in new Scorpio will produce 138 bhp of maximum power. I am not sure about the authenticity of this information. Just thought of sharing with you guys.

Somehow I feel this lacks the killer punch that the current Scorpios have. This one looks bit MUV type than SUV type.

re: 2014 Mahindra Scorpio Facelift (W105). EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 7.98 lakhs

I am expecting to see a very simple yet aggressive front of the scorpio, and if only MM had made a change in the profile lines of the scorpio on the line of (Jeep XJ).

I would like to see either scorpio or bolero having the profile of Jeep XJ. But since both are people movers and not 5 seaters, I know owners do tend to use them as 5 seaters.

In the spy photos I noticed, one of the sorpio with a tow hook, I believe that one is for the Indian Army tender of 30,000 vehicles!

Pretty good coverage! The ONLY sore point looks like the middle row space / seat. If only they had made the seats look stylish (and function too). Right now, this looks so plain in design. Otherwise, there is overall refinement & freshness in the design.

Might bring in more fire again to the line up. Would be great to see the sales touching 5K and force better competition.

Sorry about my silly inquiry. Does the new Scorpio have roof mounted AC vents? The last time I took my family to the Mahindra showroom, they were appealed by the *family*ness of Xylo and especially the roof mounted AC vents.

Highly unlikely.

The interior spy shots show the same existing floor mounted second row vents. Given this vent, I don't think they would offer roof mount AC vents.

The person sitting in the third row will definitely feel suffocated.

Does it mean that the Scorpio Getaway will also get these styling upgrades, at least the front end and interior ones?

Not immediately, but probably after a couple of years. Anyway, Mahindra needs to be provide spares support for the old scorpio for a minimum of 5 years from the date of discontinuing the old model.

the breakeven of the new design vs the old design would take ages, given the miniscule numbers that the get-away does.

On the other hand, the Getaway may get the upgrades too without much delay, as the Getaway is also exported by Mahindra to other countries.

If that's the case then I am going to play a waiting game, I had plans to get one late 2014, but I will wait on it for longer.
