The interiors are definitely wow. Is the steering perpendicular to the dash ?

Think they are the rear door power window switches. They were there in the earlier models, no changes to them. The front door pads will have a map pocket and not bottle holders.

Interiors are definitely lot nicer and upmarket than current one. If they have managed to liberate little more space for third row and increase the boot space, then definitely this will replace my 5 year old 1L Km run Mhawk Sle.

Slightly OT: Whats the average service cost per 10K km that you incurred considering that you have covered 1L km on the current gen? Since your location mentions Bangalore, would be useful for those like me who are on the lookout for a new vehicle. Thanks.

Ride quality for the 2nd row is another factor that I hope is improved in the new version.

On an average I would have spent at least 8-10k for every 10k km covered. Major issues- clutch master and slave cylinder failed at 73k and costed about 12k for repair. Ac evaporator coil conked off at 97k and costed about 14k including labour and gas. Got the complete suspension overhaul done at 99k and changed the brake disks as we'll costing about 22k.

Got the last 2 jobs done at Ananth cars Bannerghatta and I am extremely dissatisfied with their service. They do not have trained manpower and have too many vehicles to cope up with. Will move back to sireesh marthahalli next service onwards.

Looks like Mahindra has reduced the height of the upcoming Scorpio. Can anyone confirm this.

From what the dealer has to say, the launch is sometimes away.

Any idea as to how early are the dealers notified ahead of a car launch?

re: 2014 Mahindra Scorpio Facelift (W105). EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 7.98 lakhs

Had spotted couple of Scorpio's on the way to Goa. Did follow the set of Scorpio's for couple of kilometers and made some observation.
1. The rear spoiler looked different.
2.The roof bars are also of different design.
3.Somehow felt that front fender is changed and also cladding is gone.
4. Looks to me like Mahindra has tweaked the suspension. They felt much more planted and less bumpy.

2-4 weeks prior (to the launch) is when the training starts. So I believe this is the same time frame when they get to know about the launch as well.

re: 2014 Mahindra Scorpio Facelift (W105). EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 7.98 lakhs

This is now a 26 month old thread.
Is Mahindra really testing the facelift for such a long time? Come on, this is not even a new vehicle / design - just refurbished front and rear end and suspension tweaks from the looks of it.
And people were firing when Safari was being tested and launched as Storme.
At least we would have expected better from Mahindra - not a redo of Tata.
Will they rename Scorpio also with some suffix as Tata did?

re: 2014 Mahindra Scorpio Facelift (W105). EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 7.98 lakhs

  • The “Scorpio” is not just a name but a brand, hence the naming will remain unchanged. The interior/Dash looks fresh and up-market, not very 'simple' as in the current avatar which I like.
  • Such an extensive testing with and without fully loaded = some major mechanical changes as well.
  • Hence expect a much better ride & handling combo with a better and all new suspension set-up.
  • A more refined M-Hawk with loads of features thrown in.
  • I am OK with less gizmos but want a super reliable vehicle right from the word go, for which I am sure Mahindra must have done their homework enough.

re: 2014 Mahindra Scorpio Facelift (W105). EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 7.98 lakhs

The amount of testing & the number of mules spotted, does hint at a reliable & niggle free vehicle from the 1st day. Though being a Mahindra, one should keep fingers crossed (small niggles etc)

I expect the vehicle to be mechanically sound & hope there are no clutch issues as in erstwhile MHawk.

Mahindra is taking its sweet time to launch it. So, should be testing it thoroughly.

I did not like the instruments. Please see pics at post #338, 339. The speedo tacho reminds of table top alarm clocks of 90s. Can't M&M give raised,chrome-ringed circular dials that is in vogue these days? Like in Outlander, Endeavour and Honda City of 2005-6. I also hope they elongated cabin by at least 8 inches to free up some space inside.

The dash definetely look refreshing, trendy and a departure from the standard fare.

I don't think there will be any major mechanical changes, going by reports we can however expect the MHawk engine tuned to 140 BHP and a six speed transmission would be an icing on the cake , and these 2 are already tried and tested on the XUV5OO.

Lets hope we have a better vehicle this time round, I stopped short of buying the XUV since I still prefer the Scorpio (current one going strong and would complete 7 yrs in Sep)
