re: The 2017 Ford EcoSport Facelift caught testing in India. EDIT: Now launched at Rs 7.31 lakhs

Saw an updated Ford Ecosport without any camouflage while being tested on the Chennai Tindivanam highway. The red color on the looked elegant. Sorry, no pictures , was driving alone in the car.

The car was being driven at very high speeds. Easily overtook me doing 120 kmph on a Figo.

Just adding on to CarguyNish post:

It seems like Ford India will be announcing the new Ecosport in about 2 weeks, early October. The company has invited media to the Sanand plant in the first week of October to brief on the new Dragon engine family, seems like a good opportunity to also take covers of the vehicle which will be carrying it first.

Deliveries not before November though. Cheers!

Is there a chance of the trim details and prices leaking then?

I guess we may get trim details during the plant visit, unsure about the pricing!

Yes agambhandari, but Titanium + or S variant would probably get keyless entry along with start / stop, the Harman audio system and a Sunroof - "if wishes were horses".

Heard about the Ford Kuga ? That will be the answer to your long wheel base(d) Ecosport.

Sanand plant makes the Figo/Aspire and the engines.

Does the Ecosport current TDCi engine come from Sanand?

I am asking cause the Ecosport is made in Chennai plant so was curious if they will be making the Dragon engine in Sanand and then sending it to Chennai. Sounds counter intuitive.

re: The 2017 Ford EcoSport Facelift caught testing in India. EDIT: Now launched at Rs 7.31 lakhs

Source Car Torq - September 20th - Article on Vitara Brezza Petrol, but what is interesting is the news of the Ford Ecosport facelift.

The report also suggests that there will be a petrol version of the compact SUV too. The petrol engine is expected to be a 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine that also powers the Baleno RS in the current line-up. The petrol engine will come with CVT automatic transmission. There are also reports suggesting that the petrol engine could be the 1.4-litre K14 engine that powers the Maruti Ciaz.

The new variants are being launched to counter the upcoming launches like Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport facelift that is scheduled to happen next week.

Is it true? If yes, then exciting times ahead ! Especially after the launch of the Nexon and soon to be launched Renault Captur -

I have a friend who works quite high up in Ford and I'm told that Ford India is doing everything they can to launch the car before Diwali.

Ford is trying it's best, sure. But the main reason for delay is because some dealers haven't exhausted the stock yet. They have requested Ford to wait for some time. This is what I have been told.

While it's easy to launch New Updated Model, but the old stock won't sell even if the car is offered at discounted price. This is the last thing Dealer's want. Training is scheduled next month (1st Week), expect it to arrive roundabout Diwali.

re: The 2017 Ford EcoSport Facelift caught testing in India. EDIT: Now launched at Rs 7.31 lakhs

Is the aggressive pricing of the Nexon going to influence the way Ford prices the refreshed Ecosport?

Autocar did a price+trim comparo recently between the Nexon and current Ecosport. Nexon's top end diesel XZ+ sat between current Ecosport's Ambiente and Titanium trim variants

re: The 2017 Ford EcoSport Facelift caught testing in India. EDIT: Now launched at Rs 7.31 lakhs

I was trying to find some info about the 1.5L dragon engine online. All I could get regarding the specs was that it is a petrol engine has 120hp power (some articles say it is 130hp). only one or two articles mentioned the torque figures at 153Nm.
The ecoboost already churns out 120+hp power with 170Nm torque right?

then why this new engine with all this hype? is it just to replace the current 1.5 for the automatic version?
