Hmm, no real 4x4 on the Harrier, or will it come later? Or is it being reserved for the H7X?

Tata Harrier drive mode selector teased – Gets ESP terrain response

Yet another official teaser of the Harrier has been shared by Tata Motors. Today, the SUV shows its drive mode selector. There is also traction control and Hill Descent Control system that can be seen in the teaser.
Tata Harrier SUV bookings have opened at company showrooms at a down payment of Rs 30,000. Global debut is set for 2nd December, while deliveries will immediately follow launch in early 2019.

Safety features will include a host of airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP with roll over mitigation and traction control among others. Drive mode selector can be seen in the teaser video .


Tata Motors has christened the engine as Kryotec 2.0. This engine which complies with BS VI emission norms is a new 2.0 liter, 4 cylinder diesel engine. The name is inspired from the Cryogenic rocket engine.

Why this H7x leak now? Wouldn't this mean that a lot of people might hold their H5x bookings now and wait for this one? If it's smaller than the Hexa, it'll be the perfect car for a majority of the people who want a 5 seater mostly but don't mind the occasional 7 seater.

Those who go for the Creta or the mid trim Compass are the ones targeted I feel. Neither of them has this level of space or such good interiors . The final price too would be tempting and one which would be brand value aware. Given the launch price of the Alturas its the XUV and Innova crowd that I feel the H7X would be trying to aim for.

The leak might be to ensure XUV and Innova customers do not go for the Alturas knowing there will be another capable SUV which will provide a better value option. The kit and placement suggests the same.

The punch powerglide AT in Hexa is GM sourced, and capable of much more. But note that Hexa has a longitudinally mounted engine, while Harrier is Transversely mounted, so the same transmission will not work.

I have had many 7 seat vehicles till now, even the 3rd row in Innova was not comfortable for adults. Aria/Hexa and Xylo have a decent 3rd row, but Xylo only has straight line comfort, and you need to slow considerably on turns.
