True and Mahindra needs to be commended for sticking to their price guarantee promise unlike Kia who offered no such promises for the Carens (and hence they feel wrongly justified for hiking the prices!!!).

However, the gist of what I said was even if the introductory prices are earth shatteringly low, only the first few thousand will be able avail them. For the XUV700, I believe they hiked the price after the initial 25000 bookings. So only a small proportion of prospective customers will eventually own a ScorpionN at its initial price. Majority of people who would want to see and TD the vehicle before booking, will end up paying much more.

I feel this will be a hot seller like the XUV700...so be prepared for rapid price hikes. Cant actually blame M&M for milking it when the demand exists.

Mahindra started deliveries of XUV 700 in Sep 2021 and completed 25000 deliveries in March 2022. That's 7 months of sales on the introductory price. Not bad for "introductory" pricing. I for one, won't complain. Having said that, I do get your point as well - this corresponds to less than an hour's worth of bookings!

I am not sure what could have been done differently though, given the unprecedented demand (whether they anticipated it or not). It will be good to avoid such fastest-finger-first situations, but how? If they had made it time-boxed (say, all bookings done within first 24 hours), they would be selling at the introductory price for an year!

While this is the ideal scenario, I think in the current times, it's better to just book any car one finds interesting and decide later (particularly, given that these booking amounts are 100% refundable).

Re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

Looks like the Scorpio N will be the widest among D segment SUV's, exception being Citrion C5 . It is half feet shorter than Fortuner but much longer than Scorpio classic. Significantly shorter in height than the preveious generation as well. Overall very proportionate.

A scanned portion of the Scorpio-N owner's manual has been received on Whatsapp.

Re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

Thanks, @RavenAvi.

So the new Scorpio-N is about 10 cm wider, 10 cm shorter, and 23 cm longer than the Scorpio, with a slightly longer (by 7 cm) wheelbase. This would indicate a much better handling than the Scorpio.

Compared to the Storme, it's about the same length, but a bit shorter and Narrower, with a 10 cm longer wheelbase.

Will 3-point turns be required more often ?

Re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

Either the leaked manual stating the AT as 5 speed is incorrect, or the zoom blurred the pixels to make 6 look like 5. No way it could be 5 speed. The “6” for the manual gearbox looks like 6.

As per the leaked manual. It gets only front and rear camera modules, so no 360 degree camera. Also only 2 front parking sensor.

I bought a Tucson Diesel in November 2021. And that is turning out to be one of the best purchases in my life. I won't give it up for any sub 50L car. Love the engine gearbox combo and the supremely comfortable front seat.

About the test drive, I like to try out all the cars I find interesting. Maybe I am just weird.

Re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

Being an XUV 7OO owner, what gets my goat is Mahindra providing 3rd row Cabin lamp and also Front Parking Sensors for the Scorpio while leaving them out for the XUV 7OO which is supposed to be their flagship product. Getting back to the Scorpio though, it seems like such a good value for money Car - I'm assuming, since, it definitely won't be priced above the XUV 7OO. The proportions seem just about right at 4662mm which will retain the boxy looks to an extent. I cannot wait to see the car in the flesh and try it out

Re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

A leaked brochure is gathering attention; 1200 odd posts on a forum, with still a fortnight to launch!!! This gives a fair idea of things to come. This one could be the biggest launch ever in Indian automotive history for sheer euphoria.Upon launch, this may be sold out in seconds instead of minutes.

I am getting a mini UPS for my wifi connection...... Sorry,*can't risk it.
Feeling the rush like going for a train tatkal booking after a long time... should be fun.

I did say that it is longer and much higher than the 7OO, only a bit shorter.

I am told that the turning radius of the Scorpio-N is quite good and a roundabout turn from one shoulder of the road to the other shouldn't be a problem. Let's see.

The system is on 2WD by default. Sensors trigger the 4WD as and when needed, just like the 7OO. Transfer cases and terrain modes are user-based.

Check this zoomed pic of the 4Xplor system to see the 4WL and 4WH clearly. You can also see the 4 terrain mode selections above the rotary knob.

The MID also displays this separately for Low or High.

It is a 6-speed transmission for both MT & AT.
