Re: The 5th-gen Honda City in India. EDIT: Review on page 62

Meet Viper, the newest member of our family.

I've read almost all the posts in this thread and thought maybe I should share my experience of buying the city as well.

I call her viper. I'm the proud owner of another city ZX, although that's a 2007 City Dolphin. That's where all the "city" love began.

My dad was convinced he didn't want another city for sure, especially after everything we went through because of the belly scraping. After 5 years of using a Mahindra TUV 300 for the same reason, one test drive with the 5th gen city changed his entire mindset.

And that's how Viper came home on the 28th of Jan 2022 and already has around 8.5k kms on the odo 😋

As for the changes I've done to the car so far, they are
1) Satin black wrap on the front chrome bar and honda logo
2) 9H ceramic Coating on the entire body (Planning to go for PPF next year)
3) Indoor floor lamination
4) Satin black wrap on the side mirrors
5)Garware Sun control film on all windows and both front and back windshields (70%)

Future upgrades: Thinking of upsizing the tyres and finding a solution for the road noise, might end up getting door damping installed.

Will most likely go with Conti UC6 or Michelin Primacy 4 ST in 195/55/16 spec. Few questions related to this upgrade:

1. When replacing 6J wheels with 7J Lenso wheels, will the tyres bulge out of the wheel arches? Vendor informed me that it would not be the case with Lenso alloys.

2. Finding it difficult to pick between the two tyres (assuming cost is not a constraint) - Conti UC6 VS Michelin 4 ST. Any recommendations ? Only issue with Michelin is most of the vendors have only July-Nov 2021 stock.

3. Will there be any ride quality issues (car mostly used in the City) with this upgrade?

Thanks for any inputs
Another issue I have with Michelin 195/55/16 is the manufacturing date. The vendor seems to have tyres from July 2021 as stock - Nearly one year old tyre. Are there any drawbacks in getting such a tyre with old manufacturing date?

Door Damping definitely helps. I hear very less noise creeping in.
I also got 3M underbody coating done which also adds to noise reduction

I chose it from the car accessories shop. I'm not sure about the name.

Tyres do age in spite of being used or not. While 1 year old tyre would not have aged that much and not going to be a problem to drive, you are getting a tyre with a lesser life span but for the same cost.

Michelin has stopped supplying tires to cars in India. In case you need to replace a damaged tire it may be difficult to find. Continental are just as good.

I didn't knew frankly how. I took a measuring tape and measured the length between the lowest part of the car (Where we mount the jack) and the ground. Infact, I did it at two places to reconfirm.I was expecting a 10mm increase in GC only. Let me try again and update here

Only lower trims and sizes are not available. Anything >= 185 and >= 16" are available. They are imported from Indonesia.

IIRC Govt banned tyre import last year.

Again, the ban was only for <=15" and <185 tyres. Not for all.

Tyres if stored properly have a shelf life of 5 years, as mentioned by michelin itself you can google for refrence.

Re: The 5th-gen Honda City in India. EDIT: Review on page 62

The owner has measured it wrongly, it's measured from the lowest part of the underbody, not from the jacking points.

The owner should measure it again. Also, using tyres with substantially higher diameter and weight will throw off speedo and odo readings, and reduce life of suspension and drive train components.

Re: The 5th-gen Honda City in India. EDIT: Review on page 62

Hi Everyone,
I'm planning to buy a 5th Gen Honda City "V" variant and planning to upgrade the tyres from the stock 15" 185/60 to 16" 195/55. Since tyres are being upsized, I will have to upgrade the alloy wheels as well. The dealership is offering to sell me the Tyre+Alloy combination from the VX/ZX variants for ~70k for 5 sets (4 + 1 spare) after exchanging the stock tyres+alloys. I believe this quote is on the higher side since the Tyres will be of Bridgestone/MRF and size 16" 185/55 and hence want to explore options in the aftermarket as well.

Since this will be my first car purchase, I want to be extra careful. Can you guys please help me with the following queries:
1. Will upgrading the tyres to 16" 195/55 tyres lead to the warranty getting void since the OEM size in higher variants is 16" 185/55?
2. Any recommendations for trusted tyre+alloy shops in the Bangalore area?
3. How much should be my budget for getting a set of 5 tyres+alloys? I'm targeting Michelin/Conti/Yokohoma as the tyre choice and open to the design of the Alloys (prefer simple designs over anything fancy).

Looking forward to your valuable suggestions!

Hi All. I will get the delivery of ZX MT variant in couple of weeks. Can someone please give any lead as to where in Mumbai I can trade the factory fitted tyre (Bridgestone 185/55/16) with 195/55/16 tyre. I will be using the factory fitted Alloys. My preference is Michelin, Continental or Bridgestone.
