I am not sure about reliance as I suspect I got lower FE whenever I used reliance on highways (12 KMPL (vs) 13+ using Xtra Premium or IBP regular). | |

I think i am getting 12 or less ![]() For all the tall claims about CRDI mileage, what could be wrong with my car??? I drive a little spirited but come on this mileage is not justified. CRDI is meant to be flogged your invaluable views ![]() |

| ![]() Can we have some FE figures of AVEO 1.4 or 1.6 here? My 2 months(1600 kms) old Chevy is showing 11.5-12.5 kms/litre in City driving with 70% AC functioning. Havnt tried Highways yet. I use Reliance Petrol. |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Please wait atleast for the first 5-7000kms & second service to pass before considering the FE of your car. Car engines need to bed-in properly before they give out their best both Performance & FE wise. I would not be too concerned with an FE of 12 in a car that's done only 2400kms. |

| ![]() Just came back from a three day trip to Surat and back with my family.First things first, the NH8 is fantastic to drive on.Anybody wanting to have a blast must drive down to Daman or wherever just for the road itself.Total kms logged from Mumbai to Surat and back- 620 kms I filled the car to the brim before the trip with HP Power.I knew that the 1.6 was'nt very fuel efficient in the city since I dont get more than 9 kmpl under any conditions. So I assumed I'd probably get around 13-14 kmpl on the highway.I was really in for a pleasant surprise. While driving down I realised the fuel indicator was coming down pretty slowly. Now my eyes are really not trained to see that on the Palio ![]() I cannot accurately ascertain the fuel efficieny for the entire trip until I top up again though. But since I'm pretty familiar with the fuel needle after 3 and a half years of owning a Palio,I can roughly judge that I've used around 40 of fuel for 620 kms.Thats 15.5 kmpl, which is good as well. That drop can be attributed to the slow progress once I returned to Mumbai. A/c was used 70% of the time and speeds were maintained between 70-90 kmh for most part of the journey. Places covered - Mumbai - Daman - Valsad city - Surat-Mumbai. On a similar journey in my 1.2 elx Nv 2 years back,I could'nt manage more than 14 kmpl due to the fact that I had to really gun it while overtaking and had to redline in 3rd and 4th at times. While in the 1.6,I dont even remember downshifting from 5th(overdrive) ever to overtake. So I can safely say that the 1.6 is definitely more economical on the highway than a 1.2.what else can I say.I've witnessed Santros giving 18kmpl on the highways. But 17 kmpl from a Palio 1.6 S10 is pretty darn good.I'll update w.r.t any discrepancies in Fe after topping up. | ![]() The taller gearing on the larger capacity engines (with more torque available), enables these cars to return more kmpl on highways in most cases. I remember ACI review of 1.3 and 1.5 OHC when they said that the 1.5 OHC actually gives better mileage on highway due to taller gearing and less downshifting when overtaking. But yes, for a palio 1.6, it is great mileage. Most 1.6 corsas give max. 14 or so on highway. |
