This is interesting !!! In one of your earlier posts you had mentioned about shell being costlier in Chennai as it was being transported from Mangalore. Wonder why its cheaper this time around and that too with a price difference of Rs. 4.

Today it was 71.45 for normal petrol. Why do they increase every time govt increases the rates. Diesel is too costly, dont know who buys it.

The costlier petrol might not have reached Chennai yet!!

+1 to srishiva, This rate hike has happened from yesterday midnight.
I had gone with my friend yesterday evening and normal was 68.25.
Now its increased by 3.20 to 71.45.
Today's Chennai rate will be more than today's Bengaluru rate and I believe Hyderabad rate will be the highest.

Nowadays, whenever a new post is made to this thread, I pray once before opening.
At this rate we will reach the 100Rs/Ltr mark pretty soon.
Mods its high time that we need a smiley for crying (or rather 'cry'ey)

Either that, or it is the result of the tax cut the state govt announced recently for fuel. Because otherwise Shell is usually cheaper in B'lore than Chennai, while PSU fuels are costlier.

Shell is trying to set the record for the highest price of petrol in India. The dispensing station at Raidurgam, Hyderabad increased the price of regular unleaded petrol to Rs. 75.95 per liter!

Looks like the PSU pumps have not hiked the price and there is a difference of Rs 4 almost between shell and them? Have been a regular with Shell but if the difference indeed is that high, gotta switch loyalty!
Problem is which PSU pump to trust!

Rs 4 difference is very tolerable if you see the difference in Hyd. PSU petrol is Rs 65.15 and Shell is Rs 75.95. More than Rs 10

I hope the International crude prices drop (or PSU pumps raise their prices) soon so I can feel less guilty about filling up Shell.

70.xx for Unleaded and 72.85 for Super at Hinjewadi yesterday. Loyalty is severely being tested!

re: Shell fuel price discussion thread. Update: Going down cheaper than PSU's.

Indeed 71.45 for regular at shell now!!! Bye bye for now to Shell :-(

But for the last few months I have not seen shell lowering their prices even if the Crude prices are going down a few notches. They were only doing it in the initial days. Now they are only going North with their prices!!!

@noopster - Totally agree, its a sheer test of loyalty!

re: Shell fuel price discussion thread. Update: Going down cheaper than PSU's.

Just wait for the elections to be over, and you know the price of PSU pumps petrol. The plan to hike petrol by 4rs is on hold due to election.

But news were mentioning that due to Japan refineries not operating, and since demand will reduce for a while, the crude price may come down. Not sure how far its true and possible.

I will not move from Shell till they close down in India!

May be it is time to think of a good after market LPG kit. After all, LPG can't be adulterated even at PSU pumps - I hope!

Sadly, you hope in Vain! The Only thing that cant be tampered with is C.N.G. Auto LPG has no monitoring at PSU bunks!
