If this is the Swift they are getting to India, then I am definitely buying one.

Liked the interiors. Much better than the present one.

@Parm - Did you check the rear leg room? Any different from the current one? What does the brochure/dealer say about the top end diesel variant? Is it eqally loaded as a top end petrol?

*All the above comments are subject to a HUGE favour by MSIL launching the New Swift in India by 2015...

my reply in bold.

What does the brochure/dealer say about the top end diesel variant? Is it eqally loaded as a top end petrol? in dubai no diesel is available, only petrol engine. a fully loaded top end model and a lower spec base model. the fully loaded gets stop/start button, 6 airbags, all 4 disc brakes, automatic AC, alloy wheels, front fog lamps etc.

I just quoted that example to say that its kinda cheating the customer and they wont be happy about that!

But any of these above scenarios that both you and i are so worried about, wont happen in real. Because MSL wont do that!!
Firstly i hope you arent the Mr X in question :P And I thought the waiting periods had come down after all the new hatches launched in the last year, are they still six months now? I waited three months for my swift diesel three years back!

One more thing to take into account is, wont the customer actually be happy he is getting a newer model (even if it costs say 40k more). That amount will be more than made up while selling the car

The All new Swift is just a Bumper and dashboard re-designed car, a big dissapointment i must say.

Its looking more of a Fabia now.

Lets not speculate untill its launched here in the country.

The Fabia came after the original swift which obviously by the looks of it , Is inspired by the swift. It is not just a bumper/Dashboard redesigned car. As mentioned before it has a all new chassis with extended wheelbase with redesigned interiors and is tweaked for optimized handling.

I am afraid you are doing the same.

Thanks for the pics, Parm. The new Swift looks promising. Let's wait for the launch.

Sorry for being pedantic Pavan, but isn't that speculation as well?

The new Swift is a brand new car. It's not just a bumper/dashboard re-design. (that would technically make this a face-lift, and it isn't one!) The dimensions are different, the suspension has been altered, the chassis is new and so are the interiors. Although, I'd like to say that the judging by the pictures of the interior, they haven't improved much on the quality of plastics. It does look a little cheap here and there.

But I shall say no more, until I find myself in one.

Totally agree with that point radiokidb. It'l be worth that money during the resale. + Swift still has a 4-6 months booking period. The underproduction of ABS units for the swift maybe the reason.

Everything looks nice except the rear bumper design.

Sideways it looks like a Fabia indeed, specially with the protruding boot and rear lights.

I heard from a very reliable source that the intended official launch is May '11 and the deliveries will commence in June. The car is undergoing ARAI testing now. The new car will come with around 15% imported content and whole project is little off track due to the misfortunes at Japan.

^^ Thanks deetjohn. Seems like we are close to its launch. I dont know how much is the imported content in the current SWIFT, but looking at new rates and other car makers hiking the prices, I get a feeling it would be priced well above the current one's.
