6.5 to 7 lakhs will be an ideal price range depending on the condition and immediate expenses required. Don't go over 7 on this one.

Check online classifieds (Olx, facebook marketplace and Team BHP) for cars sold by individuals. Most of the dealers in NCR are indulged in shady practices. New car dealerships are a better option in that regard as they also stock used cars that come in for exchange. You won't find temporarily fixed, cleaned and polished cars with these dealerships. Either they'll be properly refurbished with genuine parts or will be in as-is condition.

Coming to the car, remember there's a 10 year cap on diesel cars in Delhi NCR. So after 5 years of age, used diesel cars are available for a bargain while used petrol cars are sold at a premium. Ecosport diesel is a good car. A 2016 Titanium will fit easily in your budget.

Thank you for the information.

In the mean time my son does not expect to stay more than 6 to 8 months. So we are looking at other options like leasing etc as buying and selling car is a hassle.

For those interested in Tiago JTP in Hyderabad, it seems Tejaswi motors has got their left over BS4 stock registered and selling them as used cars. There are other vehicles for sale as well. OLX Link below-

Unfortunately sir, you are going to lose a lot of value, reason black color and a not so ubiquitous vehicle. I would consider it a great deal if you could sell it for 65% of the OTR price. I would say retain and use it till the market gets better.

You are being too modest. The offers I am getting are literally driving me crazy. Tata motors offered a value of 4 lakhs for exchange plus 40k exchange bonus, I laughed on their face and told my loan amount itself is 4 lakhs left. I also told them not to bother to call me for any follow ups.

Ford offered 5.6 lakhs and M&M offered 6 lakhs 3 months back and now offering 5.2 lakhs. OLX time wasters are a different story all together.

Everyone is quoting same reasons
  • Black color saaaaaarrrrr
  • AMT saaaaarrrrr

OTR was 11.75 lakhs in 2017. Bank loan interest paid 2 lakhs

Yeah, because the answer was from a seller perspective.

However, if you still don't intend to retain, the only way you can offset that huge loss is by looking out for great deals on used cars.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Now that the new Thar is released, what would be an appropriate price for a 2019 Thar 700 ran around 10000km.

Two sellers I found are asking the OTR price they spent. Yet to negotiate.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

My cousin who had a Etios Petrol(pre-owned) planning to get another pre-owned Diesel vehicle.

Got a 2017 model, 60034km run Red Elite i20 and seller is asking for 5.6L(after negotiations). Personally took the vehicle to service centre, checked the service history. My trusted SA also gave a thumbs up as the vehicle is in top-shape.

Do you think 5.6L is a good price? Shall I proceed with the deal?

Asking for a friend:
Car: Honda City
Variant: V Petrol
Year: 2016
Kms: 67k
Color: White
Condition: Good (non accidental)
Asking price: 5L

Is the asking price right and should he go for it.

Version? If it's an Asta(O), it is a good buy at that price, as it would have retailed for approx. Rs.10L. Otherwise, anything in the range of 50-60% of the then OTR price should be a good buying price given the current scenario.

Seems to be a very reasonable asking price, as it would have retailed for around Rs.9L in 2016. 4 years and 50% depreciation. But, need to be vigilant of the mechanical condition of the car.

The car was thoroughly checked by a trusted mechanic as well as a Honda technician.
He just wants to know whether the asking price is right and whether he should negotiate further.

It would be great if your friend could start negotiating from 4.5L and settle for somewhere under 5L, including any expenses like tyre change, insurance, ownership transfer etc.

It's Sportz Variant. I guess the asking price then should be 5L?

Yes, that would be a great price to start, and as with buying used cars, stretching a little(Rs.20-30k) when the car is in pristine condition is very much agreeable.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Guys, I have been looking for an automatic hatchback as second car in my home. We have a Jeep Compass already.

Shortlisted a Nissan Micra 2017 top end (XV CVT)
26K on the odo
Original Paint
Good mechanically

The price quoted is 3.5 lakhs.

Is it a good option and if so then is it good price?

P.S. We have a Nissan showroom/service center nearby
