I have received offers in the range of 2.5-3.0L but there seems to be a temporary ban on the re-registration of NCR cars over the age of 10 years. Can someone confirm this?

Even I'm in two minds about selling the car but the itch for a crossover has been too much and I absolutely do not have the parking space for another car a home (we already have 2)

That's only for diesels. There is no directive for petrol cars.

Post 2026, you will have to get the registration extended for a period of another 5 years (as with any car) along with a fitness certification. There should be no issues on this front presuming the car in proper condition even then.

Coming to the pricing mentioned, I am no expert, but have seen similar aged/run Figo diesel / TDCi models being sold in this price range. The petrol figos don't sell that well in the used car market from what I hear. So, I personally feel it is expensive.

I am quite new to the platform so not sure how to PM you either. Sharing some pictures of my car - please excuse the dust on it, I just brought the car back from my office basement parking after 2 weeks.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Wanted a suggestion on a used Jetta TDI 2010 model (Comfort Line)
Since the car is driven fairly less under 20k, the owner is trying to demand a premium and asking 5.00L.

There is no insurance and the 4 tyres need replacement as they are as fitted from factory i.e. 10 years old.

My quoted price is around 4.2L and wanted to know what the best price that can be quoted.

Out of those two, the Ciaz, definitely. Listen to your mates & stay far away from any dual clutch transmission, especially in used cars.

Since you’re not strictly looking for a specific type of car, I’d suggest a 2016+ Jazz CVT. You’ll get most of the space & features from an equivalent City, with the added reliability of the legendary Honda drivetrain.

Your money, your choices, but choose wisely.

What a rip off for an almost 11yr old car. I wouldn’t pay more than 2.5L(max!!) for that car. Yes, it’s low mileage, but your immediate costs post purchase will easily be 50,000 - 100,000 at a minimum to buy 5 new tyres + insurance + a full service. Not to mention any unforeseen maintenance expenses ($$$) for a 10 yr old German.

Also, since the car has mostly been a lawn ornament for the past 10yrs, any major part failure on the Jetta & you may be looking at repairs which could easily exceed the value of the car. Diesel engines are made to run often.

Tread extremely carefully on this purchase. Also look at the Corolla Altis diesel from the same generation.

Agree.
However, the OTR prices of most cars are higher in Bangalore than other states and hence the resale value of the cars are also higher.
Am yet to take a TD and shall update if at all the deal gets through. The owner looks very adamant on his asking price though.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Hi Guys,

Looking to get a second car for the family. Got this offer from a used car dealer in Chennai -

Requirements:

1) Frugal, powerful and refined engine
2) Decently kitted with features and safety
3) Mainly city usage, prefer a proper slushbox
4) Reliability & Fuss free ownership

Hyundai Creta SX+ Diesel AT (White)
2017 July model
1st owner
33k ODO
Full service record
Insurance current till Dec’20
No nicks or scratches, looks in mint condition
Ask price - 11 lacs

I guess the on road pricing for this model was approx 18 lacs. I have given my quote for 10 with an intention to go up by an extra 50k at the max.

What do you guys suggest for this deal? Anything that sticks out that I’m missing?

Attached few photos received from the dealer.

Afaik, its a pretty good deal as it is 1.6 diesel engine. Check for full history from showroom, accident history and car condition.

refer to this thread and see if there are any red flags for this particular car: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/india...-response.html (Hyundai India - The occasional serious quality lapse and apathetic manufacturer response!)

Do inspect the car in person with a mechanic preferably, ensure to check underneath the carpets to know if its flood affected. If the car is clean and has service history to substantiate it, I would suggest to close the deal. Even at 11L it's a good purchase.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Hello All,

Looking for advise on what would be a good price to pay on a 2017 Grand i10 Sportz Petrol Automatic car with ~3500 km on the ODO.

Hyundai Grand i10 Sportz Automatic
2017 model
1st owner
~3500 km ODO
Insurance till Dec'20
Small nicks and scratches
Location: Bangalore

Dealer had it listed for 6.75 lakhs but said can sell it for 6.3. We said what more can be done and he came back with 6.2. I think it is still on a higher side but wanted to check what you folks think and what should be a good price for this car.

Thanks in advance!
