I spoke to the service advisor today regarding the progress, and was informed there was nothing wrong with the wheel bearing, but there was a bend in the rim, which has been taken care of.

The new windscreen would be fixed tomorrow, and i can expect delivery by evening.
So far, so good. More once i collect the car.

I got the car back at the specified time last evening, with the new windscreen and servicing done. Here is the car following the installation of the new windscreen. They seem to have done a neat job installing it.

I then notice this on the A pillar:

Quite politely, i ask the service advisor to take a look at it, thinking they may have scraped the paint in the process of removing the old windshield. They despatch a couple of folks who use 3M rubbing compound, and get it off. Looks like it was paint or some adhesive. It was removed quite neatly.

Here is a breakup of the bill which i received for the windscreen job.

PARTS
(All tax inclusive)

Kit Cemetd Typ Glass : Rs. 778.24
Moulding Windshield : Rs. 272.40
Glass Windshield : Rs. 4302.37
Adhesive Foil : Rs. 28.27
Total :Rs. 5381.28

LABOUR
(All tax inclusive)

Labour charges as per Insurance approval : Rs. 1300.00
Total :Rs. 1300.00

Grand Total including VAT Service Tax, Education Cess : Rs. 7515.00

Now, i shall wait for the cheque from my insurance company to reach me.

Glad to hear that you sorted out the wobble issue, how much do they charge for the wheel alignment, balancing?

Split up of service bill would be great.

Coming up soon, Jaggu. Actually putting up all the info while in office takes quite some juggling of windows.

Abhi, my prayers now go along the likes of my windscreen never ever getting to know what a stone feels like. 2 stones in 2 years of ownership, and i want no more.

As for the wobbling issue, it was diagnosed to be a case of a bent rim and a wheelcap on it also bent, and hence the optical illusion at speed made one think the wheel was wobbling its way to Kingdom Come and would pop off any minute.

Trivial question Benny - does the replacement windshield also come with the Ford logo? Asking because this is a way to identify Indicas which have had a windshield change (mine has a replacement and there is no Tata logo, rest of the windshield is the same as OEM). Don't know about other brands / models.

Hrishi, i didnt really examine the windshield too closely. Neither did i observe any logo on the previous one. Shall check, and let you know, in case i spot something.

I believe replaced windshields shouldnt really be made a major criteria when evaluating a used car, as the reason for replacement may be genuine, and shouldnt be used to lower the price when bargaining.

I had a windshield changed in my Zen and yes, it did not had any logo. It was easy to identify if that was changed or not.

Usually, it is. People use this to bargain because, this gives a element of doubt that the car might had a accident. Agreed that there are genuine cases like this, but you never know.

Claimed insurance on the first part of the bill. NCB gone for a toss, again!

So you finally took the plunge Benny Boy, well done

Now sit back & watch your luck change. I gather that you lost your NCB last year as well - so I'm wondering why you didn't get it done with Insurance last year itself?

Service cost seems to be pretty AOK and competitive compared to any other manufacturer. Look carefully at the LT bottom corner you can see the ford logo in the first pic

and check the wiper blade, the steel plates are coming out, ensure they dont come off and scratch the new glass!

Oh, wonderful! Good set of eyes! So it was a good idea getting the windshield from the dealer itself. As good as the original, i believe.

Time to change the blades, you think so? 2 years and many wipes later, still sticking with it. Bosch wiper blades would be a good decision, right Jaggu?

EDIT : Jaggu could you update the title to show 25,000 kms? TIA.
