As i mentioned earlier, get some pure wax and cotton and give yourself a small work out. Thats enough for a new car. Ensure you wash the car thoroughly and remove and tar stains with kerosene or diesel wipe before you polish.

At 40k coolant will be replaced, that should be enough. Unless you have filled tap water in it. Oil change and service should help you with the engine sound.

Intercooler cleaning, unless there are any issues dont bother.

I Got a Ritz Vdi....

I think yours will/should improve. I got 19km/l on highway with 100% AC in not so good conditions, when my car had done 3.8k kms.

Jaggu, I see your running 195-65-14 Eagle Venturas with the ZXI alloys. Does the ZXI alloy with the 195-65-14 fit into the Spare tyre well?? If no, what do you have your spare wheel as??

They fit in but not really flush, so you cant use the bolt to hold the wheel in place. Slightly protruding but not a major issue apart from slight wrestling one needs to do fit them proper inside the well.

Oh! i have 195/70/14 as spare

Thanks for the reply. I am facing a strange dilemma. I am running ZXI alloys (5nos.) with JK Vectra (Absolutely Sh**ty) tyres 185/70 R14 on my 2007 Swift VDI. About a year back I survived a high speed tyre burst and replaced it with another new JK Vectra 185/70 R14.

Recently on a trip to Pondicherry the front left tyre wall tore while negotiating a pothole at a very low speed. My tyres have run close to 28000kms. So now I have 4 good tyres and I dont want to buy another JK.

My plan was when the JKs life ends maybe by 35k or 45k kms I will switch to 195/70/14 or 195/65/14 from Bridgestone or Michelin. Now I have to buy a tyre for the spare and not sure what to buy?? And I also need to make sure the new tyre with the ZXI alloy fits flush (very imp.) into the tyre well.

Options for spare are:
  • Same JK Vectra 185/70/14
  • Bridgestone or Michelin 185/70 R14
  • 195/70/14 or 195/65/14 from Bridgestone or Michelin considering I will change all my tyres after another 10-15k kms.

Instead, I would suggest you scout around small tyres shops & look for a seconds/used tyre of the same size. Ofcourse pls check(check for cuts/nicks/bulge) it properly before you buy as you dont want a recurring problem again.
You can keep the used tyre a spare one & use & rotate the other four good ones

Yup GSMINC has a point, buy a used 185 or even 165 and keep it as spare, change the set when you are ready with 185's from Bridgetsone, Michellin, Yoko or xyz of your choice when you are ready. Thats the best thing to do.

Thanks GSMINC and Jaggu. Picking up a used tyre turned out to be a good option and economical. I picked up a used Bridgestone 185/70/14 near Minerva Circle. Tyre is in good condition and has about 30% life left. Thanks again for your suggestion guys!!!

15000kms

Guys

Went for 15k km service yesterday at Sai Service. Changed engine oil and filter. Fixed cabin air filter (Rs. 1000). The total cost of service 3100rs. Do you guys think the service cost is on the high side? There is a metallic thud from steering column when driven through rough roads. The SA asked me to change the plunger bush .
Cheers

I did my 15K service at Vitesse, Mumbai a couple of weeks back for my Dzire VDi.
The total came to 1970. Breakup is as follows:
1. Oil - Mobil 3.1L - Rs. 666
2. Oil Filter - Rs. 333
3. Paid Service - Approx 750 Rs
4. Windshield Shampoo Sachet - Approx Rs. 13

Rest all were taxes to our dear goverment
Didnt have any issues apart from some rattles near both the B pillars which was primptly fixed but have come back again
