re: The reversing camera & parking sensor thread

Planning to install a reverse parking sensor + reverse camera with LCD display on dash on my Celerio. As this is going to be mainly driven by my wife, looking for suggestions on the model to choose from.

From the threads that i have gone through here, only 2 brands seem to be chosen by a majority of people

-> RD
-> Red Soul
-> Occasionally system from Xenos.

Also I have checked with my Maruti Dealer, who informed of the total cost of the setup to be around 10990/-. However I am not sure what brand they plan to install. (This is the reverse parking sensor + Camera with display on dashboard)

As I am worried with warranty issues, need suggestions around the same as most of the car accessories dealers tend to Splice the wires instead of completely cutting the stock wires to draw the current. I am not sure if this would void the warranty?

re: The reversing camera & parking sensor thread

Guys, I am getting my Honda City (SV CVT) delivered this week and am looking for a reverse parking camera + sensor arrangement. Whitefield Honda is selling me a 3rd party unit (mounts on the rear-view mirror) for INR 9,500. Can't recall the vendor. Any inputs on tried and tested brands will be useful here. Thanks.

Abhishek82: As such just ensure that the installation is carried out in your presence. The last time this kind of thing happened to me at the dealer, they had cut the wiring to join up the security system.
Installation of a reverse parking camera and sensor, means one has to tap into the reverse light wiring. Just ensure that they use proper tap connectors instead of the usual slicing and eletrical tape.

re: The reversing camera & parking sensor thread

The differences are narrowing. The reversing sensors fitted on my daughter--in-laws Amaze not only show the risky corner, and also the distance. The reversing camera on the XUV500 also points out the risky corner and the distance therefore. Image apart at this point the difference becomes insignificant.

XUV 500 W4 does not have parking sensors. I am thinking of installing either a sensor or camera and would like to know what other W4 owners have gone for ?

re: The reversing camera & parking sensor thread

Is it possible to install aftermarket parking sensors which does not involve any cutting / splicing of wires and thus, does not violate warranty terms?

If this has been discussed earlier, kindly guide me to it. Thanks!

obstacle warning on Reverse parking Senor

I have installed Autocop - PARKING SENSOR PARKPRO 9000 in my car. Recently i have been facing problems with the unit. Even when there is no obstacle, still warning signs are being flashed on the rear view mirror.

Thanks

Most after market reverse parking sensors involve very minimal cutting/splicing of OEM fittings and wires (except the rear bumpers). The control unit will be connected to your reverse lights (so whenever they turn on, your sensors will be activated).

I don't think it'll void your warranty. I got it installed on my Hyundai Accent and didn't face any issues with warranty.

So it is advisable to get it done from the dealer with a premium or any shop can do this installation without voiding the warranty.
And which is good, rear view mirror/screen or a standalone monitor?

These are aftermarket systems. You can get it done at either... just be there when the installation is happening. Before work starts , ask the installer exactly what he will do. Points to pay attention to :
a) Where will he fit the camera and sensor?
b) How will he route the wiring?
c) How will he join up to the reverse light signal wire?
d) How will he join up wire ends?
To join up two wire ends, ask him to solder the wires in-situ.

Ask him to use a tap connector to make electrical connections to existing wiring. The reversing camera & parking sensor thread-wire-tap-connector.jpg

It's all up to personal tastes & preferences and budget. In my case, the camera feed directly goes to my HU. In other cars I have seen the sensor & camera feeds directly go into the rear view mirror. To each his poison

re: The reversing camera & parking sensor thread

I got dhc reverse parking sensor for my Getz - http://www.dhcindia.com/product/y-2906/. It costed me Rs.2400 (including installation charge of Rs. 300). I got it from Torque in 80ft road, indira nagar. This was the only product with the sensor only, where as there were many option for sensor with camera.

It comes with 4 sensors. The sensor module is kept inside the rear quarter panel, and is connected to the reverse wire inside the rear light dome.

The initial performance seems to be good, with it working well from different directions.

Very likely that they are pointing a bit down, and are picking up the road!
