Thanks for your suggestion. The cost factor does play a big role, and it may sway the decision like your case. But is it a given that warranty will not be voided with this install? I am certain that an HU with a reverse camera will not void warranty, and hence the confusion. Yes, I do like listening to music, and changing the HU will be a good purchase, but added features like navigation would make it too expensive. With a budget of 15k, would up you recommend anything particular?

Having said that, although I have a reverse cam in my vento, most of the time I rely on the sensors only.
Thanks. I did briefly consider units like Blaupunkt New York and Philadelphia 835, but they seem exorbitantly priced for what they're worth. Mean while, I found an RCD510+ reverse camera combo on eBay US for less than half the price of a Dynavin or a similar unit.
By the way, what kind of camera do you use on your Vento? Does it work well?
The sensors do work well, some times a little too well. They are a little over sensitive and start screeching a little too soon. It really gets on our nerves.

Hey Turbo_asd
I had it installed by the dealer before delivery. The dealer had Caska HU which he was offering, though I was in the lookout for either the Dynavin or the Blaupunkt which they did not have. I did it only on assurance that the warranty would be in place. I hope and pray so. 😉

Not sure of the make. It is the one mounted on the number plate. Has been working pretty well. Below are a couple of snaps from my ownership review thread. Since I have an 835, it supports visual display of the sensor info. Probably that is why I don't need to use the camera much. The default is set to sensor display and I can toggle to camera view if needed

My dealer has the camera with display that protrudes from the wind screen. I feel it spoils the look of the car and reduces visibility, so didn't consider that. I'll enquire about Caska and Blaupunkt on our service visit, and maybe go fo one of them if they have stock. I think I will also live with the assurance of the warranty being untouched.

Visually displaying sensor info is quite a nice touch. I thing that will serve the purpose too. But I think for now, I am headed to Vagtune Bangalore to see what they have in store. I think there's a high chance I'll find what I'm looking for. Thanks again for your help!

re: The reversing camera & parking sensor thread

I got a question about reverse camera install that I was hoping you can assist me with.

I got a Pioneer AVH-169DVD head unit in my Skoda Rapid.
It has the input for reverse camera.

My question is:
1 - Do you know of any places/dealers in Bangalore that can install the reverse cam so that it works with my existing HU. Any suggestions about a reverse cam?
2 - Do you know if the reverse cam will auto engage in this setup when we put the car in reverse gear or will I have to change the display on the HU to reverse cam input or something.

1. Would suggest a cam that can be installed above the number plate as opposed to the bumper one. Don't have info on a good place to do it. For me it was done as part of the HU install by the Blaupunkt guy.
2. Yes, reverse cam should definitely auto engage.

re: The reversing camera & parking sensor thread

I recently got Autocop Parkpro PP2000 installed in my Grande Punto. Its a great device screen is dull in sunlight but apart from that works flawlessly. Unfortunately I dont have the bluethooth pin for the system. Those who own the same model, can you please tell me what is the bluetooth pin, I tried combinations like 0000 and 1234 but dint work.

re: The reversing camera & parking sensor thread

Hi,

Any of you got installed a camera which gives a good view of the left side of the car?

Saw a link in which some guy had installed it on the Swift/Ertiga, but not much details about the setup, Need this for the Bikers!

Regards
Shailesh

re: The reversing camera & parking sensor thread

I got a question about modifying an existing reverse camera setup that is already present in my Honda City. It only has a relatively low quality reverse camera mounted on the rear bumper. The display is a separate 3" console on the dash. This console got conked off last week. I tried getting a separate newer, bigger, better console but there was a mismatch in pin of the existing camera and the new console and had to scrap that plan.

Now i am planning to install a setup of reverse camera + sensor. No issues with the sensors. However, the new cameras which are available nowadays are real cool in terms of display and resolution but the diameter is much smaller than the old camera which is installed, which means I cannot mount the new camera in the existing bigger hold without adding padding/doing a bumper job.

Now if I mount the new camera above the rear number plates (leaving the existing one intact), will that work as good as a bumper mounted camera? Some of the shopkeepers mention that it will work fine whereas other were honest enough to admit that the number plate mounted camera would not be as good as a bumper mounted camera.

Experts please help!

It will work perfectly. Look at the fluidic verna, the rear camera is mounted above the number plate and it works just fine.

@Jaguar,

Which unit does the Fluidic Verna use? The integrated one with camera and radar in same unit or the one in which the camera and sensors are separate.

re: The reversing camera & parking sensor thread

A small query from my side. I have noticed that in the NMMT Volvo buses, there is a screen fitted near the driver that is connected to a rear camera at the end of the bus. It not only helps in reversing but also acts as a IRVM since due to the length of the bus driver can't use IRVM. Has anyone noticed this ? Could it be possible to fit such an always on screen with camera in our cars ? This can supplement the IRVM especially at low light conditions and since the camera used is a wide angle one, you can see more area behind your car.

The rear glass, the limited width of any usual car, IRVMs and ORVMs would be more than just good to aid you in assessing traffic right behind you.

A camera and a screen would not add anything significant in terms of safety or visibility anyway. Plus, remember that you cannot "adjust" the camera for displaying what you want like you do with IRVM. The field of vision will not only be restricted but limited too.

In case of the NMMT Buses in Mumbai, the driver cannot see anything behidn him and the camera and screen help immensely.

Personally, I would stick to IRVM instead of a camera.

Yes. I agree, the purpose of this is not to replace the IRVM, but just as a reverse cam that always stays on. The future of this would be to attach multiple cameras (side ways front fender, etc) to the display like the system in Evoque. It can be useful in case of blind corners, coming out of parking etc

re: The reversing camera & parking sensor thread

I am also planning to get the P835 for Vento but the dealer quote is just too high. So I am considering getting it online and getting it fitted at the dealer. Also with the new Vento the visual cues for the parkign sensors are gone, so there is no option but a reverse parking camera.

Can anyone here suggest a good license plate mounted camera which can be used with the P835 on a Vento?
