The problem with keeping the film upto the edge is - after sufficient cycles of raising & lowering the glass, the top edge of the film will likely separate from the glass itself. How long have you had the film on the SX4 ?

Actually, it did last me for 4 years until I just sold the car. When I checked with a local shop if he can do it that way he said no that's why I would go back to this guy.

Re: Front windscreen sunfilm?

Went to 3M Santacruz today to replace my old Vkool film which was coming apart. Went ahead with the CR70. Was inclined towards the CR90 for the windows, but final total was a difference of 2000 bucks and took the 70. Removing the old film has been a chore mind you. They gave me a discount & bundled in a few other services for free. Happy! Wanted to try Garware/ Lumar but paucity of time and knowing the 3M folks did me in.

Re: Front windscreen sunfilm?

Got the garware arctic cool 70 film done all around. It has a slight grey green tinge. Haven't got a chance to drive in the sun yet as its been overcast here the last week.

Total was 8k. Ice cool shield would have been a little cheaper.

Saw your post late, but still wanted to ask you about it. You mentioned 3 rolls being required for all sides together. At 8.5k this does not look to be Icecool shield, since MRP of each roll of Icecool shield is 5750. So for 3 rolls - the MRP works out to 17k.

Hi,

Yeah you are right. I have the film rolls & packing with me which shows the MRP as 5750. Dealers have huge margin and that is the reason I insisted that the packaging be opened in front of me. It is / was Icecool Shield that I got.

Anand

Re: Front windscreen sunfilm?

Summer is Coming !

Hyderabad - Vijayawada is my regular itinerary and both the cities have scorching summers.

And in Vijayawada, every day is a day of heat and so I was thinking of getting a CR70 for my Honda City .

Called the 3M LB nagar and got a quote for CR 70 - 10K change for the windshield , about 32k for 4 windows, rear glass and windshield , which baffled me .

So is the dealer taking me for a ride or are the quotes satisfactory ?

Any other alternatives for 3m as some of the bhpians have an unpleasant experience with the 3m ?

Any Cardecors offering Garware films in Hyderabad ?

Thanks in advance.

I got the front windscreen (transparent) film with the highest heat rejection from V-Kool on my Civic when I bought it in 2010. Very efficient and no issues with it at all. I feel V-Kool is the best, but it’s an expensive proposition.

Cheers

These films are expensive. And it is a financial risk, as any policeman can demand that you tear it off.

Can anyone share a good place in NCR for Garware installation. Now that summers are here, want to get it done for my Baleno. Thanks!

Re: Front windscreen sunfilm?

I intend to go for sunfilm on front windshield and I have a plan to buy dashcam in near future(based on flash deals), should we first mount dashcam on windshield and then opt for sunfilm or should it be reverse? Sorry for the noob question, I didn't had both in my earlier car.
