Most of my drives are to Vijayawada and the presence of CR70 made my drives cooler and pleasant. The morning heat of the Sun was appreciably low. I think it is a better investment if you desire to keep the car for a long time.

27k for all windows including windshield? All 6 I mean?

Re: Front windscreen sunfilm?

A note guys: I had gone for RC Renewal and I had to remove the sun film on the windshield as pointed out by the RTO Inspector. It came as a surprise since I had forgotten about the sun film. If there is an RTO check, they impose a fine for non-compliance. Consider this before going ahead, or fitment is near RC renewal time.

Did the RTO inspector look specifically for the windshield sunfilm? Because it is pretty difficult to figure out if there is sun film unless one looks for it keenly

The inspector inspected the entire car and then informed me of the sun film. I asked him how he found out. He said he is doing this work for 10 years . So it depends on the experience. Some may miss it.

Hi could you please explain more on how does this work ? I mean did you apply it yourself or from the guy who applied it on your car ? And is it applied on the other side of the window or from the inside ? I'm asking this because the window in my bedroom is west facing and in the summers, it gets incredibly hot inside the room. Dark curtains do reduce the light and glare, but they don't help in reducing the heat inside. Any suggestions are helpful.

The same guy from Garware fixed it to my windows too.
It's applied from inside.
The film I chose has made a HUGE difference to the temperature in the room.

Re: Front windscreen sunfilm?

I got Garware Ice Cool Shield installed on my front glass yesterday at home along with Garware Ice Cool Elite for all other glasses. Both the tints are Greenish Grey, as written on the sealed roll/box.
The person who installed did a good job but I paid a higher price, as they charged me on the MRP written on the box with some discount. As I installed from a sealed box, there were plenty of roll sheets as leftovers. The installer guy asked me if he could take it and I gave my consent knowing he will earn something with those, but i knew it will gather dust at my place
Overall it was what I wanted for my new car

Apologies for the late reply.

YEs, it was 27k for all the 6 glasses-

Re: Front windscreen sunfilm?

As far as I know, Sunfilms are not permissible irrespective of VLT (Visible Light Transparency) but I came across this Car & Bike Article which says otherwise:
Front windscreen sunfilm?-screenshot_20220213105655.png

Link: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.car...ht-2685960/amp

I really want to install Sunfilm but I'm in a dilemma because of this. Can anyone suggest what is the best thing to do? I really wonder how those judges who passed this order cope with the heat in their cars.

Ever since I got sun films installed I do check out other vehicles on the roads of Bangalore and I find a significant number do have light tints on the windows. I can only think that the cops aren't too strict with enforcement of the sun film ban.
But as for it's legality, I've not read about the ban being rescinded.

Re: Front windscreen sunfilm?

Sunfilms are still officially banned in India, no matter what dealers and brands claim. At the end of the day, it's a battle between having to endure hot Indian weather v/s paying some fine in case an anal traffic cop catches you. These days however, the installers paste the film from end-to-end, in an almost seamless manner so that the layer is virtually invisible to anyone unless a keen inspection.

I have always had sun films in all my cars, on all windows except the front windshield. Recently got the Garware Ice Cool 70 Charcoal Grey installed on our new XUV 700.

Re: Front windscreen sunfilm?

Hi,
I recently got the Garware Icecool Shield installed for the front windshield and Garware NFLite installed for the rear glass and windows glass. Total cost came to around ₹10,000/-.
My car is a 5th generation Honda City, and I was told the glass area is considerably larger compared to other cars in the segment, So going for Icecool Shield all around, would bring the cost close to ₹20-23,000/-.

Overall I very much satisfied with the purchase, and as another member pointed out, oncoming headlight glare is reduced by around 35-40%, hence nighttime driving comfort is enhanced. The effect is almost as good as wearing a good pair of polarised sun glasses at night (I used to).

Correct .. also do think of the Jazz - both for size of the frond windshield. Also, larger the windshield, more the heat that comes in.
