re: The KTM Duke 390 Ownership Experience Thread

I would like to see how the D-390 stacks up against the N-300. Any links or has any magazine carried a comparison?

Try this you-tube link to the Autocar comparo, if not seen, already.
Looks like the duke wins on most parameters including the BHP per ton ( he mentions it at about 2 minutes and 35 seconds). Jump to 3 minutes and 40 seconds if you wish to see the comparison chart.

@Sridhu

I googled what LMGTFU means. I basically LMGTFU about LMGTFU.

300 is giving all the run for the money but that was expected. The way the engine whines in both the bikes are different. 1 rushes to 10kprm while the other labours its way and that shows in the way the bikes accelerate.

In fact the N300 accelerates far smoother if you notice and KTM is like on turbo lag all the time

Thanks for the video But I really do not want to see a chart, I wish to know as to how these two stack up. In corners, braking, how is the handling.

Surprised to see no comparisons anywhere.

Checked with Pune KTM. Only 5 bikes received till date. The 2nd lot expected anytime in next 2 weeks. Still citing the Strike for the delay.

I need my bike now......... am tired of waiting.

If you go on to the motor beam website you will get the comparison. Ninja was the clear winner on the smoothness & handling but braking was not adequate however the duke still won the challenge as its a value for money pocket rocket which everyone can afford.

Hey Sriram,

Which showroom are you referring to? A friend has booked from 100ft Indiranagar, he is 20th in the queue, he hasn't been informed, despite following up regularly.

KTM Indiranagar in my experience is not a very capable showroom. They had no idea when test drives were to begin. Its the same case as far as the deliveries go. Called them up yesterday to check on the probable delivery of the first lot and they are still singing the same tune of third week of September. When I told him that I know a couple of bikes been delivered by BTM KTM, the guy still replies with a vehement NO. Just doesn't go very well with the KTM brand image IMHO.

This is 'Popular KTM' in Mekhri Circle. The guys there are awesome. I was the first one to take delivery. Apparently this is the first delivery in S. India (as some one else also pointed out). There is a function today at the showroom for 4 deliveries of 390 with head of KTM India also dropping in. (I'll be missing the event though..)

Hi Sriram, as per the xbhp forum I know a guy who got delivery of the bike from the BTM KTM showroom last weekend. Yours would be the first delivery from Popular KTM, Mekhri Circle.

What I feel is that these dealers don't quite interact with each other, so they give a very skewed picture to the customer.
