I am strongly thinking of doing this tubeless conversion.

From what I have gathered is that the new Ceat tyres recommended for the 650 twins in 18 inches are not tubeless tyres. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hence I am skeptical that even if the tubeless conversion goes through on stock rims, the tyre options are very limited in 18 inch category.

The problem is that I have gone through 2 punctures and the bike is a tank to move even an inch on a flat tyre.

I believe you can fit the handlebars from the Himalayan (Both stock and optional extra) and the Yamaha Fz on the interceptor. They're both sized at 7/8 inch or 22 mm and come in black

Yes, ceat tyres are not tubeless and options are limited. I too have faced flat tyre issue, luckily it wasn't me but my friends bike and at a location without any network at an isolated place.

Luckily our group waited for us and I went and got them, we removed the tyre went to puncture wala and got it fixed. Came back and installed the tyre. This was the experience which made me think its now or never to move tubeless.

Re: Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin

Has anyone had an issue with their battery not charging up to 13 volts? I just replaced the battery on my bike and the voltage on the multimeter doesnt get upto 13 volts even during revving. I believe an issue with the rectifier is a common issue on the BSIV models. Has anyone faced this issue earlier? If yes, how simple was the fix?

I am assuming that now after the tubeless conversion, you guys fix the punctures yourselves?
or you guys carry a pump on your rides and keep topping up air until you are back to the city.

To me, the only advantage of the tubeless set up is the easy puncture fix without having to remove the wheel.

We do carry a small Mi Pump, and most people have pumps in cars or at petrol pumps. Good thing about tubless has been no sudden drop in air pressure and everyone knows how heavy and uneasy it is to maneuver it.
Yes you are right about the advantage, it is a big one. Also to remove the rear wheel one might have to remove silencers first or one can get tattoo's while trying to remove the rear tyre.

We do carrt puncture fix kits but can be avoided if you reach a tyre wala.

I can foresee many benefits such as...
  1. No need to remove the wheel, which means, save a lot, a lot of time
  2. I usually fix the puncture myself with tubless puncture kit, this means, I only have to fill in air, max Rs 10 for refill
  3. Puncture kit costs not more than Rs 150, behold, for 10-15 strips!! While fixing each puncture itself costs nothing less than Rs 150!!
  4. With tube tires, the air deflation is almost instantaneous compared to tubeless tires of slow deflation, which means, much safer rides
  5. Refitting the tire back means a lot of other headaches such as chain adustment, alignment, brake pad adjustment, net net, tubeless tires means, save a lot of time

Push the vehicle to a puncture shop, fix the puncture right in front of him & tell him you're here just for filling air!! That one is priceless benefit!!

I’ve changed mine to the Jawa 42 handlebar. I tried the FZ handlebar, but it was too flimsy, and hollow. I even ride with it for a few weeks, but wasn’t confident. The Jawa ones look and feel good!

I didn’t go for the Himalayan ones, as they were taller then the Jawa ones. I wanted something more committed than the stock handlebar. I can post some pictures later.

That's interesting. I did not realize the Jawa handlebars were 22mm in diameter too and a quick preliminary google search shows that they don't cost as much either. Will check them out. Thanks!

Not sure about the exhausts from the Street Twin, but the AEW TE201 exhausts look great on the Interceptor 650 in my opinion. I’ve put those, and I love them! There is also a significant increase in the bass of the exhaust note.

Here are a few pics.

Some of the other mods I've done:

1. Added tank pads
2. Changed the stock handlebars to the ones from Jawa 42 for a more committed riding position

I wish Chennai also has such a detailing center who does for two wheelers. At least to my knowledge I have approached some of the 3M centers couple of times but without any luck.

You just need metal polish for the engine casing and regular polish, wax for the paint to bring out the shine.
