Been following this thread for sometime now and allso been calling the local dealers here in Hyd. Bloody fellows! Nobody seems to know anything about when the bike is going to come or at what price, inspite of repeated calls to the dealers.

Today after a lot of coaxing, the "brand store" mentioned that the Hyd launch is expected on Nov 28 and that bookings are open with Rs. 10k. The vehicle will be on display at the Erragada RE brand store today evening or tomorrow and no idea about test rides. It is quite pathetic to see how RE is treating the launch of its newest machine??

The onroad price in Hyd is expected to be Rs. 1.1 for the UCE 350 and Rs. 1.4 for UCE500!! Chaps in Delhi and Chandigarh can gloat about this huge difference in taxes.

Randhawa,

Go for the 500 man. Spares won't be an issue methinks as RE will most certainly keep the 500UCE in production for a long time, as the AVL&CI500s are discontinued.

The Classic 500 feels very brisk with the 18 inches, thus losing out on top speed. The 500s which will come with 19 inchers will feel a little less brisker but will have better cruising/touring speeds.

So, my suggestion to people buying the classic is to go in for 19 inch tyres if you plan to do a lot of touring. The gear ratios of both the Classic and the other Machismo styled UCEs are the same.

Cheers,

Jay

@hollywoodhogan @navpreet318- Yup, you were right about the size, good observation lads. 350 indeed comes with 18 rear and 19 front.

@Technocrat@navpreet318@JayPrashanth@Spitfire- Ok lads, you have tickled me enough Just went and altered my booking. Will get delivery only when RE decides to give the stock to the dealers. Which is probably by end of next week or after 15th November.

For those who are not getting any tentative replies from their dealers about the classic is because only 40 dealers have been chosen in India to sell the Classic. So if your neighbour hood dealer is not the chosen one then probably he will get them later next month.

Thanks for the update on the website.

I have just checked and it is quite cool to see it online. Guys, you have another decision to make since the green/turquoise is available only in the 500 and they have also added a new grey color which is available only in 350. the black and red are available in both the 350 and 500. :-)

Looking good..so who all have booked their bikes..which color and 350/500??

Did anyone checked out the rear tyre size on 500? It says 110x90 on RE website and the rest of the world is getting only 100x90. Thank you RE

For which colour you get is your luck I guess. As my dealer will get 6 in the first lot and he can not guarantee what colour I would be offered.

Comparison between the Classic 350 and 500

Some key differences that I noticed between the Classic 500 and 350 (from the site information) were:

(i) Bore & Stroke 500 cc - 84mmx90mm 350 cc - 70mmx90mm

(ii) Maximum power 500cc - 27.2bhp@5250rpm 350cc - 19.8bhp@5250rpm (as against the Electra5s & Std 18bhp@5000rpm)

(iii) Maximum torque 500cc - 41.3Nm@4000rpm 350cc - 28NM@4000rpm (as against the Electra5s & Std 32Nm@3000rpm)

(iv) Ignition 500cc - electronic ignition 350 cc - Digital tci

Check out Motorcycles | Motorcycle India | Motorcycles Manufacturer for more information.

The site also says "The Classic 350 shares its powerplant with the Legendary Thunderbird." I personally don't prefer the looks of the TBTS, but love the Classic styling.

I am currently planning on the Classic 350 since I am looking forward to a leisurely drive with a good thump (the classic ingredients of the RE). the toss-up is between the Classic 350, the Electra 5s and the Std350 (the latter two I understand will most likely be phased out by Mar 2010 on account of emission norms).

I am not looking at long drives to the Himalayas (though some small highway travel may happen for which the 350 should suffice). But noticed that some people are advising on the 500 rather than the 350 (to avoid later regret and inspite of the nearly 30k difference in price) - I understand that the 500 would be better if high speeds and more pull is required, but the 350 would be a better performer for what I am looking for.

I would greatly appreciate if someone could explain how the abovementioned differences would affect the ride on the 500 and the 350 (and also as compared to the Electra5s and the Std350). This would help me in deciding what I want to plug my money on..layman terms please for this bullet newbie Thanks in advance

Cheers,
Spyder

Well yes the rear tire is 110X90.i checked it myself.and was very happy to see the broad tire on it.I tell you after the initial small bike feel gets over it'll look and feel very good.a bullet is a bullet after all.simple.

the only thing now i'm waiting is for RE to launch a full on bling Machismo with loads of chrome like my LB500 and that'll be the bike i buy.In one years time i'm definitely adding it to my garage.Though i have no idea where i will park it.lol.
