re: Honda's 250cc Bike : CBR250R!

+1 to ABS. IMO it is more important in a bike as bikers are more prone to injuries in case of a mishap.
Price is decent and i will it will sell in good numbers.

Dont excpect to be in the league of Ninja, but it should be decent enough,to keep ahead of the current crop of indian bikes.
Mid to high 80 Mph (Around 136 kmph) is what motorcycle-usa mentions in its first ride. No indications on 0-100.

Also, not sure if the top speed or acceleration would be affected by C-ABS version being 4 kgs heavier.

re: Honda's 250cc Bike : CBR250R!

That's a lot of updates i have missed.
The pricing is awesome.
the honda could have pepped the engine with a 2 cylinder and keep the Ninjas at bay, but i guess they target someone else.
This is definitely a good looking bike.
The black looks nice.
Waiting to hear about detailed test ride reviews.
Long way from getting the crave to own this bike.

re: Honda's 250cc Bike : CBR250R!

Finally the wait is over for me. I was in a dilemma for last 3 months on whether to wait for CBR or should go for Ninja (some stock market investment goof ups that made me lose some money and hence had to wait; blessing in disguise maybe). After seeing the launch pictures and online reviews, I am now convinced that it was worth the wait. That said, Ninja still rules my heart; but I always felt that 3 lacs for a 250 cc was a bit pricey.

Me and few of my colleagues have got together a biker group with 2 RE 350s, 1 Thunderbird, P220, RTR and me on my puny Unicorn (pun intended. wish I had my shogun from college days back in '98) have been hitting the NH8 regularly on weekends. Now, I guess with CBR in the tow, guess we all are equal. I have handed over the cheque dtd 1/1/11 (what better date than to book it on all unos) of INR 5,000 to the dealership so that they have me top of the booking list.

Next milestone, DSG Maze and Carbon for safe riding before the bike arrives, hopefully sometime Mar/Apr. Going for the ABS version.

Cheers, Sid

Cool! Now the waiting starts!

Did the dealer tell you how much was your bike OTR? estimated Delivery times?

What color did you book?

That was one sid to the other.

Sid so did they confirm the pricing for the ABS version- meaning how much more over the non ABS?

re: Honda's 250cc Bike : CBR250R!

I think the pricing is good, considering it is a Honda, we live in an expensive country (bangalore is more expensive with the tax ) and decent specs.

I think the single cylinder bike makes sense as it targets the mass market which needs a bike with a mix of good touring and street capabilities. There is a big market to be exploited between Karizma/ Classic and Ninja.

A multi cylinder bike would have obviously taken the price to Ninja levels.

With the launch of CBR, it seems that the 250cc segment is slowly waking up. I believe that anything upward of 600cc does not make sense for Indian use.

I might get one after a test ride. I am tempted to book it considering the booking amount. I am holding back as there are some other family commitments next year.

Funny but none of the dealer here seems to know. I checked with two of them in faridabad, one of them had no idea that when bookings start; the other one is the one who could tell me of a printed leaflet that they have got from honda but wasn't sure if the booking start on the 1st jan or sometime later. I managed to palm off the booking cheque to this dealer.

I checked with one dealer in gurgaon; he confirmed that the bookings start by first week of jan but wasn't going to take a cheque before it is confirmed.

none of the dealers could confirm OTR or tentative delivery timelines. I got varied responses from feb end to early april. hence not sure.

no confirmation. I am going for the ABS one; saftey over money anyday for me. As such I have had difficulty convincing family on why this 2 wheel passion is rearing its head again; can't afford a fall (fingers crossed) and then be grounded for 2 wheels for the rest of the life.

While we are at it, am confused between black or red; I like the red (sure its a head turner) but can't seem to get over the fact red is more feminine than masculine; advise anyone? I am tilting towards black but not sure if it will get all the eyeballs. Not sure if problem of plenty is a good one to have. No gray for me even if it comes free (yeah right, wait till someone offers one to me for free )

cheers, sid

Not if made in India.

Yamaha better wake up soon. Its going to cut R15 sales quite drastically IMO.

Yamaha how about a R25 at 1.4L ?
