Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

I didn't get lucky with the XUV5OO, but I went through the entire draw list and quite surprised at the results.
Somehow doesn't seem like a fare draw.

There are atleast 5-6 companies and individuals with two to three winning entries.

I was told that only one entry will be entertained per PAN card.

for e.g. BHASIN INFOTECH & INFRASTRUCTURE has three winning entries and there are lots of similar winners individual as well as private ltd companies with atleast two winning entries.

Thats the definition of 'fair' in M&M's dictionary. If you look at the conditions closely, it confirms that multiple family members can apply. If me and my wife with seperate PAN cards but same address wants to apply for the draw, no one is going to stop! Also, there are two different categories in the company booking where one category (local office) can book 5 nos. while another (multiple locations) can book max of 10 nos at a time, so that was clear too.

As I said earlier, I had a mixed feeling, not because I did not win the lottery, but how hyped this vehicle is. No doubt its a good vehicle but I hate when people go crazy behind the looks/design only without much understanding of ones utility (came to know while I was watching xuv 500 fb page for past few days - hated almost everyone who were posting there - they were literally begging M&M for it)

Since I'm not in hurry, I can wait to get a better vehicle. The only thing concerns me is the total cost of ownership for me, which should not go up since I've got a limited budget. Force 1 or forthcoming Duster can be a close competition here and I'll surely look for some core functions/characteristics like Performance/handling/my utility and cost of ownership rather than going crazy about the looks and other funky features.

For me, the -ve is I may have to wait for some more time but have got more +ve as I will get more options over the next few months and even if I go with XUV, I may have a bit more stable version.
Remember 'Chalo Dilli'! - 'Kaunsi badi baat ho gai!'

I feel this is absolutely fine, since multiple individuals from the same corporate can apply for the vehicle under corporate lease. If you approach MnM with this complaint, they might be able to provide you the details to prove those are all *not* for one person, but 3 different individuals working for the same company. Are you seeing more than 10 entry for one corp? if not, that is what the rule set by MnM, and they complied.

I had two applications myself, one in corp lease in my name, and another one in my wife's name, which is absolutely fine. But both didn't work for me this time. Looks like the almighty saying "Dude.. Chill... You will get a better piece"

But this is a car which I liked and I will wait for next booking slot.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

I am not lucky either !! lost out . And now i am confused what to do next

I also feel the draw was not fair enough. why?

Because from above table you can see there are people with 3 consecutive booking numbers or 2 selected. Computer generated draw rarely happens that way. and if it is multiple individual in same comp[any or name how can the booking be in consecutive numbers?

Never mind. thats only my own two cents. Good luck with the few who won the lottery. Atleaset ill get my booking amount back !!

To book a car under a proprietor company there is only one pan card and yes to book under a company pan card you can book upto 5 cars.
But in a computer generated draw very rarely are two consecutive serial no.'s with the same name or last name are picked in sequential sorting.

Plus by now M&M realizes that alot of people with more then one booking will keep only one car for themselves and sell the second one in the market at a premium (Black). They should have tried to stop this.

Thats the only reason I found this strangely unfair.

Anyway I need to buy a car ASAP and I really had my eyes on the XUV5OO because not of the fancy hype and marketing gimmicks of M&M, but because I really liked this car. It gave me 8/10 things I was looking for, though I was not at all impressed with the interior plastic quality and built, but given the price we all have to agree M&M have a winner.

I really can't wait for Sept. for Renault's duster and don't want to spend on the fortuner, so in a fix.

Oh Man! I didn't find a single mention of Aria other than of mine few posts back. Is Aria so bad. I thought its the closest competitor of XUV currently as both are crossovers, similarly priced and Indian products. If we were not successful, we would've considered Aria as first alternative.

Not bad, but over priced, I guess people have already forgotton that it exists. While it is raining XUV's in Navi Mumbai, I have seen only one Aria in the area.

Partly agree as yes people have forgotten it. But there are massive discounts being offered (around 2 lac) so its definitely not overpriced. This is fourth one on my list after Fabia, Jazz and new Fiesta, cars which are forgotten by people and are being offered at massive discounts/price cuts if you compare with their launch price and still aren't much visible on roads.
All I can say is that Aria is not as bad as made out to be and XUV is not great as made out to be. Imagine if you can book an XUV with 9-10 months waiting priod (like Fortuner), won't the Halo around it would disappear immediately as what we see is 25000 bookings out of which 50-60% are by same person. So real bookings are not more than 4-5 months production of M&M. Even the premium of 2-3 lac would also disappear almost immediately.

I was not aware of the discounts see vehicle is really forgotten, even by likes of me who are in the market looking for a suitable replacement for my scorpio, while XUV5OO, Fortuner, Duster etc. were on top of the mind, Aria did not even make ot to the initial list.

Agreed with your take on the XUV5OO, M&M will have to take the exclusiveness out. I am happy to see that VW managed to take off exclusivity on the Vento so fast with quick deliveries & fabulous offers after the initial wait period.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

BHASIN INFOTECH & INFRASTRUCTURE is part of Bhasin Group which has a Mahindra dealership - Bhasin Motors in Delhi...Now with this information I am sure that the draw was not fair at all.

Seems to be a big fraud to get a premium, not expected from M&M.
