I highly doubt it will be even in the state of tune as the one in the fluence. read somewhere that it will be just about 85 BHP! that puts me off immediately! the XUV seems to be a far capable car on the highway at least engine wise. even the scorpio looks better engine wise. if only renault would give a 2L engine... but then again it didn't do that even with the fluence!

I also highly doubt that it will have all the gizmos that the XUV comes with. the mahindra have surely gone over board in every department when it comes to the XUV leaving hardly any scope for other cars in competition!
I agree with you, Duster at best would come as a basic package and without the gizmos. To think of it, I doubt I would be able to live with the small things that I have been spoilt with in my Scorpio (auto lights, rain sensors, cruise control, TPMS etc.) which only come with the XUV

Update:

Just got a call today, delivery date is 29th May.....!

I can hardly wait now!

P.S. - Anybody in here with an XUV who has installed a custom Amplifier + Speaker setup? I am looking to replace the stock speaker system with something better. Any advice would be appreciated.

Yea, even I got Sound Processor + Amplifier + Speakers. Thanks to NitinRalli for this advice.

I got Bit ten sound processor. Rest of the things like Amplifier & speakers are from Digital Design.

Will report this unprofessional behaviour to M&M though i don't expect much from it
You do not have to accept any of their terms and conditions. I signed a declaration stating that I will take an insurance from them when I was giving the booking form. However, when they said that they have allotted the vehicle to me and wanted me to give them the cheque for the full amount, I told them either they have to reduce the insurance premium or let me do my own insurance. I took my laptop there and showed them the online rates for Bajaj Allianz which was showing approximately 34,000. They were asking 51,000. He was ready to come down to 44,000. So, I told them unless they matched the online price I will not buy insurance from them. And the sales manager said he cannot come down lower than that at which point I told him, I will arrange my own insurance. He consented to it. Once he gives me the engine and chassis number sometime next week, I will get my own insurance done.
On the finance side, that's what he told me as well but since I was paying by myself, he said OK. But even this can be negotiated if you persist.

Thanks for sharing. Watched the video as well.
The good thing about the video is that it proves that at least the ESP in the XUV works consistently

On a more serious note-
1. Love how effortlessly the vehicle crosses the 150 kmph mark (indicated by the beep)
2. Brakes seem to be decent. Did not see any instance, where the car seemed out of control
3. Body roll does not seem excessive.
4. The central console lid popping out often is quite irritating though.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

That's one exciting video, awesome fun to watch. Gaurav Gill at one stage literally flies with the thing. The tyres are screeching all the way. The ESP seems to be essential for any adventurous drivers though, its seems to give way quite often and without the esp it could be unforgiving.

Will the screeching go away if the stock Bridgestones are swapped for some other tires like geolander/Pirelli etc? (I think its pretty scary for people in smaller vehicles when they hear the screeching and turn back to see the XUV almost on top of them)
