Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Hi libranof1987 - I am interested in buying 1.5 AT. have two questions though.

1. What is the City/Highway FE?
2. What is the warranty on the DCT gearbox?

On my office runs (to Hinjawadi), I get about 13 kmpl. On the highways, it is about 16 kmpl. This is with 100% a/c and before the first service, so it could go up very marginally.

I'm not sure if there is separate warranty on the DCT. I have taken 2+2 extended warranty.

To be honest, there have been issues on the DCT.

Will Ford Ecosport match my expectations
I own a Petrol Figo and a Diesel Ecosport.
The Ecosport would match all of your expectations. I get around 13 - 14 kmpl in Bangalore traffic and on the highways anywhere between 18 to 22 depending on the speed.
Since you own a Figo, the stiff setup may not be that bothersome. In addition you get better build, powerful engine, ground clearance, better NVH insulation, a tad bigger boot.
On the downside you lose out on the Hydraulic steering and composure especially in high speed turns.

I'm surprised with these figures. I bought a 3-year-old AT about 2 months back and completed 10km service just after purchase. I've driven about 1000km, only within Bangalore traffic so far. The mileage indicator shows 7.6/km and average speed is 16km/h. I've not done tank-full method testing yet. But I thought the low mileage is due to the low avg speed. I doubt the variance in mileage that big is due to traffic conditions. What is the avg speed that you get for mileage of 13 in city?

Am I the only one here with sub-8km mileage on AT? Should I get it checked for anything specific?

The average speed is in the 40-45 km/hr range.

At times, when I cover 17km in 2 hrs (stuck for 1 hr 15min trying to cover 1km and the remaining 16km in 45min), the FE is about 10. I haven't gone sub-10-yet.

You might want to do the full-tank to full-tank method a couple of times before concluding; I'm not sure how the EcoSport calculates FE.

Any feedback on FE figures on Petrol Titanium?
The FE on my ecosport is a meagre 7.5kmpl (full tank to full tank), while the tachometer is showing a 10.9kmpl.

That's really bad FE for the vehicle!

Reset the mileage indicator and collate it with the full tank to full tank method.
That should give you accurate results

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

What is the DTE on the petrol AT after a full tank. This could also help.

It starts off with ~550; I have generally gone through about ~475kms.

Nope - you're not the only one getting those figures. I used to do full tank refills with resets - and was getting similar figures for an average city speed of 18 to 20 kms. (Doesn't really worry me tho').

I would get similar readings but it has improved of late after 10k kms. The other reason is that I moved to a different part of town with different traffic patterns so I get close to 9 now. The ecosport at hates bumper to bumper crawling traffic.

Oh boy, my battery died today and what a pain it is to jumpstart it I tell ya. It took me a good half an hour to figure out how to remove the ECU from atop the battery and then access the negative terminal.

You don't have to remove the ECU from the top of the battery to acess the negative terminal.
It is located to the right side of the battery(black and purple wire)

Attached a picture for your reference, marked as negative terminal

I have finished intalling projector , switch back LED DRL and turn sequencer.
Its morimoto 35w ballast, 4300k, square d2smini 3.0" projector along with LED DRL with switch back sequencing turn indicator. I installed myself. Now the light output is phenomenally better.
