Downhill for 10 hours!! It might, But then who goes downhill for 10hours? Its fine to have a lower gear engaged while going down a bridge or a steep incline which we might encounter during our daily life.

It should not harm the engine because you will not be revving or accelerating the engine while going downhill, you will just be letting the engine work at its normal pace without forcing it. You will also be using the brakes in between to control the speed if the speed/rpm goes much higher than desired.

Remember the speed of decline while engaged in a lower gear will depend on the steepness of the descent. If it is too steep you will use brakes along with engine braking.

re: Mahindra XUV500 Diesel Automatic : Official Review

Dear all
I just brought XUV500 Automatic AWH fully loaded, last week. It costed me some 22.2Lakhs on-road in Bangalore. I am enjoying the car. The automatic gear is working fine till now. But i have seen little bit high acceleration on lower gears and takes some time to move to higher gears. But when you are on higher gear it is absolutely smooth. I don't know how AWH really work as it is sensor based. Its been just week. I did went to Bangalore's Nandi hills and the vehicle was able to climb the steep ghat in auto mode. I will put a detail review later. I have been driving many automatic cars in US. But I appreciate Mahindra on a great job done.

Congrats Sameer. Happy driving.
How much mileage you are getting in AT/AWD ?

BTW, The local dealer confirmed smart key on AT available now.

Sameer, welcome to the AT AWD club.

What colour is your new car?

By the way, does your car have the start button or key?

Looks like the NCR folks can have the Automatic since M&M have launched the Automatics with the 1.99L engine as well. However, didnt find any AWD options.

IS start stop and pure keyless entry available on AT now?
And if available, can it be retrofit into an AT vehicle?

re: Mahindra XUV500 Diesel Automatic : Official Review

Received delivery of our W10 AT on Wednesday and I must admit this is very disappointing from Mahindra. There was no reason they shouldn't have worked on thos technology before when they had it in the Manual. The lease they can do is recall all the AT's on the road and install this features free of cost.

re: Mahindra XUV500 Diesel Automatic : Official Review

Guys, since I was so eagerly waiting for W10 AT in Gurgaon/Delhi, I am so glad that now they have launched the 1.99L AT here. Since the dealer had told me that this would be launched in the middle of June, I had already made a tentative booking by paying 25K.

The question is: Should I go ahead and buy one from the first lot that is expected to come to dealers in the next 4 weeks or should I wait for the on-road feedback and then buy after, say, 6 months... Since the 2.2L AT has received very good feedback, should I presume that they would've done a good job with 1.99L AT too? Please advise..

Looking at the speed with which Mahindra is increasing the number of variants of XUV500, it looks like it doesn't cost much to do this for car manufacturers (from logistics & inventory point of view).

Very soon, we will see -

AXi, AXi AT, BXi, BXi AT all the way to ZXi, ZXi AT

from all car makers for all the models.

re: Mahindra XUV500 Diesel Automatic : Official Review

Hi

Thx Team BHP for pointing out the release of the AT version for Delhi/NCR

The local dealers dont have the TD car yet , have promised to call back when they get the delivery.

Interestingly if I see the spec sheet, the real difference between W6 and W8 is alloys, leather seats and 4 extra air bags and the price difference is almost 2 lakhs.

would like to have some opinion on the suitability of W6 as a variant.

Also can some owners share city mileage after running in. And has Mahindra addressed some of the famous niggles in the AT version.

Thx

Many congrats for your new vehicle.
Does your Vehicle come with this keyless entry and push button start?

Thank you Manasmadaan.

No my vehicle does not come with the keyless entry or push button start. And this is precisely why I am upset with Mahindra.

Thx
Also ESP is not available in W6 which IMHO is a very good safety option to have.
