Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Finally Got my Thar delivered today. After numerous follow ups. The beast is finally home. And I think mine is the first Thar in Team BHP family. And it the first Thar delivered in Chandigarh. Will upload a detailed user review shortly. It the short time I have had it. It’s nothing like the previous Thar. The ride is liveable and comparable to the first Gen Fortuner. The spongy brakes have been rectified and the bite is good. The gear knobs in the manual model are the chrome ones. Much to my relief. | ![]() Got my Thar delivered yesterday. Drove it for 150kms. And I think this is the first Convertible Thar on Team BHP. It's a RED RAGE Diesel AT Convertible top LX variant. Being the first car in the city the dealership experience was nice with an elaborate delivery ceremony. I booked online on 3rd October. In the short time I have had it, I can tell that it’s nothing like the previous Thar. The ride is liveable and comparable to the first Gen Fortuner which i have currently. The car is really easy to drive, my mom (a senior citizen) is loving driving it to bits. The wind noise is tolerable till 100kmph and open top motoring is really fun especially with the cool weather we currently have here in north india. The car is really attracting eyeballs everywhere it goes and I have had a couple of enthusiasts stopping their Mercedes and Bmws just to admire the Thar. The boot space is really small can barely fit a few sweet boxes (picture attached). The brake bite is good. Car is feature loaded and they seem to work well at the moment. *Touchwood* The interior quality is at par with other 8-10 lakh cars and better than excepts from Jeep. The convertible top mechanism is really well thought out takes less than 60 sec to remove it fully and 5-7 minutes to get it back up again. I am really happy with my choice and looking forward to many more fun filled trips with the Thar. Picture: 1- The interest the car is generating at parking lots 2- Delivery experience 3- Mom enjoying driving the car with the convertible top open 4- Nice interiors captured from the open top 5- Small boot but then this car is not bought for its practicality Last edited by ToyotaFan : 8th November 2020 at 21:40. ![]() Looking at your delivery pic, I was seriously visualizing my own delivery, which is a very long wait unfortunately. Glad to see Mahindra has tried to address the initial feedback on brakes and the chrome gear knob is a welcome addition. Sincerely awaiting your detailed review. Wish you the best of ownership of the beast. Quote:
Your Red Rage Thar makes me envious, as mine too is Red Rage, but in HT. But i have a long queue to wait for. Last edited by justwheels : 8th November 2020 at 21:43.

To be honest there are a lot of Bhpians who are waiting for your first feedback from you both after covering say 800 to 1000Kms, so do keep us posted.

BHPian ![]() | ![]() Congratulation galore to both of you. As lot of us wait to get our machines please munch some miles and give out your ride experience in typical TBHP way. Also details of accessories if any. What I would request both of you lucky guys is to especially detail upon the ride quality of the beast. As there are very varied inputs from people and reviews. Congratulations again. |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Brilliant to see a few Thar's already being delivered here. I got a call from the dealer yesterday who advised he was only getting Manuals in the first Lot ( today and some more next week )and that my car ( AT Black HT ) would be getting dispatched on the 16th Nov so I expect delivery around the 20th of this month. It would be the first AT to be delivered. AT is the one that is causing delay as they did not anticipate the percentage of AT bookings even in there wildest predictions. An 18 day delay. Not bad. He also said that he has over 70 bookings and not a single person has cancelled there booking owing to delays. However quotes for someone going to book today will be north of 4-6 months depending on variant. Mahindra has stepped up there production as we all know. |

| ![]() Congratulations on the new set of wheels, may this mark the start of multiple adventures and memories. On a side note I was thinking my customer promised delivery date of 7th June is a tad higher than most folks here especially considering I had booked it on 2nd Oct with a Petrol to Diesel switch on 6th Oct. Any thoughts on how should I proceed? Should I wait for the delivery date to take its natural course or should I check with the dealer and ask to revisit the dates? Also is there any merit in exploring an alternate dealer? Thanks in advance |
