Re: Hyundai Tucson (Diesel GLS AWD) – Buying & Ownership Review

Crisp and informative review here, rave20. I took delivery of my Black Tucson Petrol GLS last week. Looks like we have a flurry of Tucson owners, especially from Bangalore. Wishing you lakhs of kilometers of happiness.

Congratulations !!! Wishing you many years of happy and safe driving. The colour looks beautiful and sharp. Hopefully the ceramic coating will keep it shining. A perfect time to enjoy panoramic sunroof as well

Need help.

Any place in Chennai where I can get DEF UREA. It has started showing the empty alert within 4k kms and I am in Chennai now...

Tried two Hyundai service centers and 5 petrol bunks, no luck so far...

I will wait and see.. If i have lot of issues then i will switch.
Aha, these deep blue-black shades have been introduced by many companies. Fortuner has a similar one called crystal black, and i think Mahindra XUV700's top selling color is the similar looking midnight black.

For the tires, you will not have much choice in standard 225/55R18 size, other than the Bridgestone Turanza T001. This Bridgestone is OE in the higher trims of the Compass, and not too well suited for heavy SUVs. Competent on the highways, but not off-road. Develops sidewall cuts easily. You may have to change the size to 235/245, which again runs the risk of vehicle warranty etc. Or look for imported options in 225 size.

Your car looks fabulous. This starry night color is quiet tricky on the eyes. I test drove one today. It appears black in certain lighting conditions and blue in others. I had test driven the Octavia yesterday. The latest one seems a bit soft sprung compared to the old one I have. While I am not going to lie that the Tuscon's drive was on par with the Octavia, the vertical movements were decently controlled with 4 on board. The Octavia is quicker while the Tuscon will be easier on the running costs. I am waiting for the Tiguan TD before I finalize the choice. Heart says Tiguan, brain says Tuscon...

How long did it take for the PPF and ceramic coating job to be done. Did you have to leave the car overnight ? Can you also share the costing for the same please.

Re: Hyundai Tucson (Diesel GLS AWD) – Buying & Ownership Review

Such a crisp and nice post detailing out your buying experience. Congratulations on your new companion.

I have driven close to 1500 kms in my Tucson GLS 2WD. It's benn just about a month and I can't harp enough about the driveability of the car. Butter smooth. NVH is absent inside the cabin.

There's no noticeable lag in between the gears. 400nm torque gives you the authority when you press flat. The cabin is welcoming, just like any other Hyundai. The steering alignment was a tad off which I got addressed during 1st service. The steering and brake feedback is just perfect. The panels feel well built and the gap is uniform. There's a proper 'thud' once you close the doors. I just wish the voice command had more features.

I have an XUV5oo as well and this, I must say, is a real upgrade when it comes to power.

It takes 2 days for the Ceramic Coating to be done. You will have to leave the car there. I did full Ceramic Coating and some main sections PPF.

Ceramic Coating itself is about 40,000Rs.

Most Toyota service stations stock the 5 litre AdBlue cans. Some Shell select outlets stock 5 litre cans too.

Not sure which part of Chennai you're in, but if you're towards the south, the IOCL COCO Bunk in Singaperumal Koil almost always stocks the 10L buckets and I have seen the HPCL bunk (Arasan & Co) in Katankulathur stock 20L cans occasionally.

Re: Hyundai Tucson (Diesel GLS AWD) – Buying & Ownership Review

I think, it's just the Elantra and Tucson left with evergreen elegant looks.
Other Hyundais like verna, creta doesn’t look as good as they used to be.
Sonata Embera and Santa Fe (discontinued) were also the ones with evergreen design language.
Congrats on breaking the monotony by choosing the one not opted by many but still one of the most reliable of the lot being Hyundai.
Black further makes it a head turner !

Just a curiosity. Does anybody know what is to be done if I wish to use the light strip on top of the headlamp as DRLs? Those look really sharp imo as compared to the bumper mounted ones. However, I have never seen them come on unless I turn on the full headlights.
