At this stage it’s the pro-forma invoice. VIN can be shared as a part of it or separately. No harm since all one has paid is the 21k booking account. Is your SA saying he/she will share the VIN only after your make part or full payment ? Hope that’s not the case.

With NBS it’s a challenge to do PDI. They didn’t allow me to go to their Mumbra godown at all, despite all efforts. I finally settled matters by making a payment of 2 lakhs & they got the car to their Andheri showroom. That’s where I did the PDI. A very disappointing experience for a company owned showroom is how I will summarise it.

I got insurance done on my own, they tried pushing me to buy what they had to offer without making it a real hassle for me at any point, so no complaints.

Thanks for the response.

Yes, the SA is asking for full payment before sharing the VIN. I know he is trying to pull a fast-one. When asked to put it on an email, he backtracked and wants to check with higherups.

On PDI, I believe I have to do the same but a few queries

>Did your vehicle go back to stockyard from showroom after PDI?
>How much time did it take for you to take delivery after completing the PDI?

If the vehicle stays in showroom, I am worried it will be on everyone's list to checkout since its 1st phase of deliveries and I want to avoid such a scenario. I prefer the vehicle to stay in stock yard.

I am also planning to purchase insurance on my own. I believe NBS has 3 options (Reliance/HDFC/Tata). Which one did you pick?

Full payment before sharing VIN, obviously you know not to fall for it. My car stayed in the showroom garage nearby (not in the showroom) instead of being sent back to Mumbra. Delivery time after PDI really depends on how soon can one make the payment. Once the payment is clear they can start the registration process. I went with ICICI Lombard general insurance.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Is anyone still facing a blank screen issue on startup? I thought it would've been fixed in the last 2nd update to the software but unfortunately, it happened again and this is the 3rd time it has happened (twice software was updated/reflashed too -- silver box / infotainment both were reflashed).

I'm kinda annoyed at this point. Thinking to raise this issue with Mahindra directly instead of service centers.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Finally got CarPlay update.

Mahindra XUV700 Review-carplayxuv700.jpg

Sharing some brief thoughts below:

- Connectivity wise it's pretty quick and works wirelessly. I have done 4-5 starts of the car so far and each time it connected without any major issue.

- It's a tad bit laggy, but I believe thats cause it's currently running at 30fps. No idea if 60fps CarPlay is even possible with the current hardware. I'll try again using a wire and see if things improve.

- Apple Maps in instrument console didn't work for me as well. Tried several navigation restarts, switching back from native nav to CarPlay, but it still didn't work. I'm on iOS 16 beta so that could be a possible issue. Can anyone on iOS 15 please try and confirm?

- The ICC rotary dial will not work on CarPlay if it's set to Volume. The knobs direction pad does not work in CarPlay. If people from Mahindra are reading this, please add support for the ICC dial's direction pad, CarPlay has support for it.

With the ICC dial set to volume, you get the best of both worlds in Adrenox where the dial controls volume while still allowing navigation via D pad.

- Tapping phone button in ICC opens phone app inside CarPlay. I'm yet to try out what the music and fav button do while in CarPlay.

- Faced a bug where I was playing music and received a phone call, after the phone call, the audio source was stuck on phone and no music could be heard. I had to disconnect and re-connect CarPlay to get music output again.

- Map version has been updated to v2021.11 on firmware v10.07.51. The earlier map version was v2021.03 on firmware v8.01.41.

Service visit experience

- Mahindra Salasar service center in Thane is really good with quick customer service and knowledgeable technicians. My regular service advisor Swapnil always goes out of his way to make the service experience a breeze.

- I had a minor left pulling issue which they seem to have fixed for now.

- The key fob shortage seems to have been resolved. Many customers are now getting a service recall alert for 2nd key assignment.

The dealership was of course unaware and always give me the standard response of "we don't know". Strangely enough Mahindra will first send the keyfob to the dealership and then you have to collect it from there and go to the service center for coding.

Sharing the re-call document below:

Thanks in advance
I took delivery from NBS Andheri on 16th Aug. The chassis number was shared when the vehicle was allocated and the VIN came on the proforma invoice.

After the vehicle was allocated to me, I decided to go for a company lease. A new NBS guy who looks after corporate bookings started coordinating with me and things became a little smoother.

I was given a competitive insurance quote with all riders included. They would bring the car to the showroom and leave it parked nearby (in an open parking lot) till delivery. We agreed on the following process:

1. Proforma invoice
2. Company makes payment
3. Vehicle brought to showroom for PDI
4. Vehicle registration once PDI is completed
5. Delivery after registration is complete

It's not ideal to make the payment before PDI but so long as the vehicle is not getting registered it should be OK.

I'll share a more detailed update about my delivery experience shortly.

So, does that mean that Google maps will not work in Apple Car Play?
Can you elaborate please?

Google Maps works great on CarPlay in infotainment screen.

I was talking about the instrument cluster screen, navigation apps are able to show maps even in the 2nd screen. Google Maps doesn't work there but Apple Maps was supposed to work which unfortunately isn't working as well (for me).

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Got the CarPlay installed and it is working fine. But didn’t realise that my reverse camera stopped working until I left the service Center. Have to go again this weekend to get it sorted ☹️

Is it AX5? A similar incident happened to me. You'll have to get the reverse camera enabled again, and that might require flashing the ECU. Tell them to follow every instruction on their laptop precisely. In my case, they struggled a lot just because they weren't following the instructions.

Yes. It’s an AX5. Thanks bro. Will definitely ask them to follow the instructions

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hi All,
Need some information. Mahindra showroom is quoting 1.12L (Bangalore) for insurance for AX7L D. I tried checking with a few insurance vendors and they say they can offer for less. My question
- Is it OK to go with an outside vendor considering the Mahindra showroom is OK with that?
- Any recommendations on insurance vendors?

1. It's absolutely fine to go with outside insurance and definitely will be a lot cheaper, at least 40-50% cheaper. First get quotes from a few providers and see if the dealer is willing to match them. If they can match, then you can go ahead with dealer-provided insurance.

2. I went with ICICI Lombard, seems good enough.

If you're taking the vehicle on finance, there might be offers to bundle the insurance and loan with some package benefits (like in the case of HDFC, they give you a discount on pre-closure charges), you might wanna explore this too (Obviously you still should compare and go for max VFM). So check with the bank.

Try getting as many quotes from other providers and use it to negotiate it with the dealer. I did the same. They quoted around 95k for AX5 variant and got quotes from Bajaj and Coverfox. After showing it to the dealer, they said they have a special offer running for special customers like me (???) and I can avail insurance with a good discount. Finally paid around 55k.

If your dealer is not willing to reduce, it’s fine to go with the insurance provider of your choice. Future Generali,Universal Sompo,Bajaj are some of the best in business

Yes, you should take insurance quotes from other vendors.
I suggest go to PolicyBazaar.com or Coverfox.com. These are insurance aggregators (like Ola aggregates taxis).
They give comparative quotes from all insurers. Be sure to tick "Zero dep", "24x7 assistance" and "RTI", which are optional. I got insurance with the above optionals for about Rs 55k.
Rates change very frequently.
Hope this helps.
Happy hunting!
