Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

Hi All,
I am observing a rattling sound from all four doors of my New Punto D 1.3.
The rattle is from the door assembly.
It is more from right back door & left front door. The sound is thin & can be heard when car moves through some uneven road.

Probably this sound was there for quite some time, but I observed last late evening when driving with music & a/c off.

Car is just one month old & done only 1600 Kms.

Has anyone observed this & can I fix it myself.

As advised elsewhere on this forum, do not bother for small niggling issues, so have decided not to visit A.S.S. till my first service is due.

Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

Found a very nice article on the Grande Punto, albeit most of it relates to the EU version. Still, many featers are present in the Indian version too. Most descriptive article I've read on the GP:

2007 Fiat Grande Punto - Top Speed

Another thing: the seatbelt warning light comes on in the 2012 Dynamic variant, but it doesn't seem to be working or glowing when the passenger side seatbelt is not engaged. Any thoughts on this?

That was nice reading. Extremely descriptive, as you said!

I am yet to notice the seat belt warning in my 2012 dynamic. As a habit, I always wear my seat belts and the first thing I tell my co passenger is to put his/her belt on as soon as they get seated!

I have a 2010 emotion which is equivalent to the 2012 Dynamic.
In this variant the seat belt light is just programmed to blink 5 times and go off.
It blinks 5 times even if both the seats are unoccupied.
it blinks 5 times even if the driver/passenger has put on his seat belt.
It just blink 5 times whenever you turn on the key
I know this because many a times when I'm standing at signals and I turn off the key, I don't remove my seatbelts.
When I turn it back on, the seat belt light blinks 5 times and goes off.
I actually went to the A.S.S and asked them If I can get the buzzer thing as in emotion pack(or 2012 emotion). But the answer was no.
The SBR(seat belt reminder) system program in the top variant is much more complicated and it has many more options.
Top variant users may be able to throw more light on that.

Seatbelt warning is only for driver seatbelt.

My 2012 Emotion also does not have passenger seatbelt warning.

Specifications/features on 2012 Punto brochure cleverly mentions only of seatbelt warning light (with buzzer for Emotion).
It does not mention passenger/co-passenger.

Well, I thought the whole purpose of the warning light/buzzer (in Emotion) was to remind the driver that seatbelts are not engaged. Once the car has started moving and if the driver or co-passenger has not used the belt, the warning light should stay on. Has anyone checked with service people if this programmable to do so?

If it simply goes off with the belt in use or not, as it's doing now, then it doesn't serve the desired purpose.

Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

Not sure about the 2012 models, but in our 2010 E-Pack the warning and buzzer is only for the driver. If the driver does not buckle up the display light on the dash stays on and you get a continuous beep after sometime. I understand that this beep can be disabled at the service station if one wishes to remove it.

The Punto 90HP (along with the T-jet) was supposed to be re-launched in March/April. Is there any update on this?

Yes the irritating buzzer starts beeping once you cross 20 kmph. You better buckle up or it drives you nuts!! But its only for the driver, not the co-passenger.

Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

Had a long weekend drive from Chennai to Bangalore and trip to wonderla.
Overall distance covered: 850kms
Mileage: 18.5KMPL
Avg Speed: 80KMH (Highways) 35KMH (City)

The car has now covered around 4300kms within 50 days.
Since 5k is the 1st service interval, will be getting it done by next week.

Need small help:
what key points should be taken care during 1st service?
Is there any write up available?

Observations during trip:
1) Car felt sluggish when 5 people were loaded (approx overall wt: 300kg)
2) The engine noise has grown louder compared to when it was new
3) Gear shift has become smoother and clutch is still holding good
4) There slight drop in pickup (may be service will rectify it)
5) AC rock solid chills pretty fast (OT:Bangalore is pretty hot this summer)

You should be able to do it yourself by navigating through 'MENU' button right to steering.. and the buzzer volume too can be adjusted there. Checking the car manual will help.

Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

Just heard from a dealer that the Fox Trot Azure color for the Punto is now discontinued. Linea however will continue to be available in that shade.
