Yes Adheesh, these wheels caps are obviously not from the President but from the Delite model Just before the President was introduced and there was FIAT written on them and not PAL. Karl and myself have a few of them in used condition for rarity. It is the same with Instrument cluster which is the one from the latest Delites (same design as PRESIDENT) but all black in colour unlike the Silver of the PRESIDENT. Believe me, this is one rare Delite which will also be an Owners DELIGHT as these were limitedly produced in the early 70's.
Hope that solves your doubts about the fittings.

Dear Dhabar Behram,

here are the close up pictures of Cylinder Head which i bought recently, the make is SENATOR, and i have routed petrol line to carburettor quite different way and longer than Stock, Tank to electronic fuel pump then to mechanical pump instead of routing above the head, i routed from the front part of radiator then fuel filter(placed beside the Radiator) than to carburettor. the reason for all these are it can suck faster and consumes less battery power even if i start the car after 7-10 days. and due to non availability of the stock or good quality petrol pipes in the market, i didn't want to take the risk of putting pipe close to the engine head. i need your feed back for this kind of petrol pipe routing.

Dear Manish Saraswat - ref your query on reintroduction of manifold heating, yes, it was reintroduced in 1991 in order to meet the 1991 emission norms which were aligned to ECE15.04. Alongwith manifold heating, Solex Bicsa 1069 carburettor with delay valve and throttle opener were also introduced. A new mould was made to cast this manifold. It has a longer protrusion on the RH side to provide suitability to mount the 118NE air cleaner support bracket. We had made prototypes of Padmini with Nissan air cleaner on Solex carburettor. However, this never came in production. I still have the prototype parts lying with me at home.

Dear Rony - I agree to your suggestion that the grey car should be left alone as it is. Fiinally, what happens to each car is the owner's final decision.

4500 rupees for a Senator head? You paid too much. if it was indeed OE (S62), you would be OK but not for Senator. Its too late now. Don't do such things again. Ask first.

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar

I thank Almighty for not designing me "Normal" I too happy to be involved in the World of Fiats.!!

Comments on MEV4850 - the accelerator pedal is not original. The radiator and front / rear glass rubbers are of Premier Padmini. Spark plug wires are aftermarket. Ignition coil is of Maruti 800. Coil specification of Maruti 800 is different and not suitable for Fiats although the engine will run. Wheel caps and instrument cluster are of Premier President. Alternator is used as voltage regulator is removed. The inlet manifold does not have heater pipe connections, although it is a double walled manifold. The rear bumper is thin but small. Bonnet opening lever is on the LH side. The pawl position indicates so. Everything indicates that this must be a 1969 to 1971 car.
Sir, the car till date been driven around 2.5 lac kms. So many parts have been changed. As pointed out by you, i will suggest the owner to fix appropriate parts.

You rather do it yourself with your professional expertise at a later stage when the need arises.

Rony, Most parts of the car is in very good state except the down part of the front wheel arches. They are badly eaten up. Just that part needs to be changed.

The owner, it seems knows some good tinker in Central Mumbai, who can just change those parts in one or two days. Thats his plan. But ya, the car doesn't need complete resto.

That was probably the 'Mobile Store' Rolls Royce Phantom that has been touring all cities since some time.

Ya you are right Karlosdeville, the Mobile stores car can be spotted often in Bangalore. But to get to every ones notice, there is a White board RR PHANTOM too in Bangalore with registration number starting from KA-01-**-****. I have seen it twice at Shantinagar and Koramangala.

He's planning to drive down to Mumbai just to replace the panels?

Any ways, if he plans to sell his car, in Central Mumbai there are certainly many takers. One I can think of personally.

Yes, just to replace the panels. As i said earlier, he feels Mumbai is best for it. Anyways, he works for UB group and he is planning to send it through company lorry i guess.

I have already hinted him that I am interested in buying it But he will definitely not sell. Its his mother's car which she got in Mysore State Governor's quota of 6 cars a month to top dignitaries in 1971.

I had been to Goa in my 118 NE. I spotted a couple of Fiats and 118NE's in a garage en-route to Baga beach...

(I will share my experience of the trip with my NE some time tomorrow)
