re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Looks like an head on collision.
Apparently the Nano driver survived.
No idea if that's true or not.

Tragic and RIP.

How did the guard rail pierce through the car like this? Even though it was because of driver error, I bet that the guard rail was not anchored properly and was left jutting out or incorrectly installed.

News related to this accident -

Seems like the first gen Dzire, on which the victims travelled, lost its front left tyre due to tyre burst and ploughed into the back of the truck which was parked in the left lane and apparently without under-run bar. With the car fully loaded (5 adults + 2 kids), it is very much possible that the tyres would have given up if they were old. Also, the news suggests that the driver of the trailer truck has escaped from the accident scene.

RIP the deceased.

It is highly likely that the rail had suffered damages from a string of accidents and had been left unattended at that time leading to this gruesome accident. Unless we have met and been acquainted or have employed the driver for a sufficient period, their mortal prowess shouldn't be trusted to be superhuman. Even with the means or constraint to opt for a driver, every car user should work on developing the capacity to finish the drive himself so that he can instinctly catch the signs of dangerous fatigue in the driver and shoudn't mind to take over the wheel.

Witnessed a bizzare accident near Banaswadi railway station. A speeding auto rickshaw ended up getting stuck. The driver was not hurt, and the vehicle was also fine except for the roof. The auto drivers at the railway station were quick to respond, and tried everything from pushing it from all sides to breaking the sides of the vehicle. It came unstuck after someone released some air from the tyres and pushed it. Thanks to the rescue work, the vehicle continues to be a menace. Sorry for the poor quality pics.

Looks like the truck was parked on the side of the road only and not on the left lane.

To free the vehicle, people tried breaking the vehicle. As seen in the second picture, the freed vehicle was left in a state where the broken pieces were left hanging on the sides. The auto was driven in this state, and I saw many near misses till it disappeared from sight.

Well I do agree to the fact that the Bajaj freight pickup has to be sturdy, so that it's capable of taking some load. At the same time I do not expect the Ciaz to be soo flimsy too.

Feel sorry for the swift guy. But look how the panels flex

Although hopefully the body-shell stayed intact. For the TATA (Hexa), well business as usual.

Hexa took the impact really well. Tata cars are strong and I don't think anyone can deny that. Coming to the panels flex, it is very common to see MSIL cars like that.

When I rear ended a Ciaz, my Aspire received just a few scratches and the Ciaz suffered a great damage including the destroyed tail lights, boot lid and the quarter panel.

I think Maruti is taking crumple zones too seriously.

Off late, the norm was jumping the median; now here the vehicle just drove through to the opposite side. What an atrocious road discipline. Apart from all your driving skills that you possess, you need to be lucky to survive on these roads.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

An auto trying to do a wrong side turn t boned an Innova at the Indira Nagar water tank signal in Chennai. Made a mess of the side of the Innova and there's a ton of blood on the road.

The Innova driver was unhurt and frantically making phone calls to the car owner. The auto guy was being shifted to an ambulance - not entirely sure he survived.

Got this from my dashcam as I drove past.
