Initial Test Drive Impressions: There is no mistake. Its him!

And mid of this month Iced Earth's new album will be on the stands. (I think the album is already released. But it makes its way to digital stores later this month. I already see reviews out. But Apple music store says mid June)

Thanks for the info. Just love TBHP for this, apart from the cars of course.

Just listened to 5 of the tracks, and they're good.

Re: The Heavy Metal & Rock Thread

Just heard the Chester Bennington, the lead singer of Linkin Park committed suicide! I'm in a shock! He was young, successful..how could he?!! He just released new music few days back. Some say he was battling depression.

Depression is a silent killer and should be really exposed. RIP.

Re: The Heavy Metal & Rock Thread

That is really shocking! I really like his songs. Rest in peace!

Chester Bennington was very close with Chris Cornell. And it is really bad to lose the two of them like that.

This is shocking. Didn't expect. In fact these days a lot of Linkin Park was showing up on video feed. So I thought they alive again unlike others of their times.

Infact, he killed himself on the day of Chris Cornell's birthday.

Really sad. They were just on the brink of starting a new Linkin Park tour as well.

While not exactly a big fan of Linkin Park I loved their energy and the fact that they reinvented the rap-metal genre. Bennington's vocals were a big part of that.

RIP.

Re: The Heavy Metal & Rock Thread

Shocking and very tragic!

Chris and Chester were musicians I grew up listening to. In fact, Chris Cornell & Soundgarden introduced me to Grunge and rock-music in general. (courtesy Road Rash)

A few years later, it was Linkin Park.

Re: The Heavy Metal & Rock Thread

A singer whose songs I turn to whenever I feel low takes his life because of apparent depression.

Here's something I read on the internet:
Quote:
At age 41, the Linkin Park lead singer's passing has shocked the music community, in which he was known as one of the leading pioneers of the nu-metal genre. According to prevention experts, his death arriving on the late Cornell's 53rd birthday may bear some importance.

As reported by Mashable, these experts believe that momentous occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries can be triggers of intense emotions for people who have lost loved ones to suicide - increasing that person's very own risk.

“Anniversaries bring up the fact that the person isn't with us anymore,” says Julie Cerel, president of the American Association of Suicidology said. “It becomes a time of risk for people who are hopeless and hurting.”
Makes a lot of sense to me.

Suddenly, the last album, "One More Light" sounds like an eerie premonition of what was running in Chester's head.

Really saddened to lose the lead singer of my favourite band.

RIP Chester.

Re: The Heavy Metal & Rock Thread

Tragic. The past 2-3 years have been brutal for the music industry specially rock artists. Many of the musicians I grew up listening to have all passed away:
Chester, Chris Cornell, David Bowie, Prince, Lemmy, George Michael, Scott Weiland.

The way things are going I am worried about Eddie Vedder, in many ways he is the last man standing from the Grunge, Seattle music scene.

Well - Billy Corgan is still around - not to mention the heavyweights from that era Axl and James !

Re: The Heavy Metal & Rock Thread

RIP Chester Bennington !

Extremely saddening news for the boyhood fanboy in me.

I have been humming these few lines since last night :

When my time comes
Forget the wrong that I've done
Help me leave behind some
Reasons to be missed
Don't resent me,
And when you're feeling empty
Keep me in your memory,
Leave out all the rest
Leave out all the rest

Cornell and Chester - lots of childhood memories right there !
