Just heard the Chester Bennington, the lead singer of Linkin Park committed suicide! I'm in a shock! He was young, successful..how could he?!! He just released new music few days back. Some say he was battling depression.

Depression is a silent killer and should be really exposed. RIP.

Really sad. They were just on the brink of starting a new Linkin Park tour as well.

While not exactly a big fan of Linkin Park I loved their energy and the fact that they reinvented the rap-metal genre. Bennington's vocals were a big part of that.

Chris and Chester were musicians I grew up listening to. In fact, Chris Cornell & Soundgarden introduced me to Grunge and rock-music in general. (courtesy Road Rash)

A singer whose songs I turn to whenever I feel low takes his life because of apparent depression.

Here's something I read on the internet:

At age 41, the Linkin Park lead singer's passing has shocked the music community, in which he was known as one of the leading pioneers of the nu-metal genre. According to prevention experts, his death arriving on the late Cornell's 53rd birthday may bear some importance.

As reported by Mashable, these experts believe that momentous occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries can be triggers of intense emotions for people who have lost loved ones to suicide - increasing that person's very own risk.

“Anniversaries bring up the fact that the person isn't with us anymore,” says Julie Cerel, president of the American Association of Suicidology said. “It becomes a time of risk for people who are hopeless and hurting.”

Makes a lot of sense to me.

Suddenly, the last album, "One More Light" sounds like an eerie premonition of what was running in Chester's head.

Really saddened to lose the lead singer of my favourite band.

Tragic. The past 2-3 years have been brutal for the music industry specially rock artists. Many of the musicians I grew up listening to have all passed away:
Chester, Chris Cornell, David Bowie, Prince, Lemmy, George Michael, Scott Weiland.

The way things are going I am worried about Eddie Vedder, in many ways he is the last man standing from the Grunge, Seattle music scene.
